Why is EBR paying for Chauna Banks trips to Ghana, Puerto Rico, etc?

No fricking wonder St. George wanted to break away. “Professional Development”? Funny how you only ever see one side getting this “professional development” out of country.

Didn’t even catch that

I’m genuinely confused as to why the city parish payed for a former council member to take these trips. Is Banks an educator? What does she even do for a living?

In June 2023, the city-parish sponsored my 10 day trip to Ghana in South Africa.

Chauna should take another trip to study a map.

Ghana is not located in South Africa or even the grammatically correct Southern Africa when referring to the region. It is located in West Africa.

But all you have to do is ask Teedy she can tell you exactly where Ghana is.

Did you miss the part about City-Parish funds being used?

And I highly doubt your second part is true. Plenty of republicans and democrats jet setting around the world for "professional development" and bogus "speaking" events.

There's even a bill proposed in LA to expand the ethics rules that apply to legislators and allow them to charge the state for travel for basically anywhere in the US. (Current rules only include reimbursement for in-state travel) There are also some other language loosening other ethics rules that apply to themselves. Of course it will pass, same line of thinking that allows legislators to set their own salary.

I don’t care if it came from the city or the parish, it’s a waste of my tax dollars regardless.

I also don’t give a frick who’s taking the trips. It’s all bullshite and once again a waste of my tax dollars.

Just pointing out that it has nothing to do with St. George breaking away since the whole parish is still paying for it.

I can't wait to see Chauna defending the rest of the findings in that report, like the embezzlement, forgery, taking kickbacks from vendors, and using school funds to buy the CEO a Land Rover and put in a pool at her house. I'm sure everyone does those too.

Yeah, that jumped out at me. She should take an English class at BRCC instead of any professional development trips out of state.

She is a Councilman.

Her biggest responsibility most days his asking DPW to reinstall a street sign. How much "professional" development do you need for that?

“Professional development” for Chauna Banks would be better spent on BRCC classes in English.

St George had no seat at the table in how funds were spent, city or parish, before incorporation because all the Metro Council members were representing other areas primarily.

In fact, members like Banks representing north BR and Baker would go out of their way to frick other parts of the parish. Banks, specifically, fricked Zachary because it was “racism!” to demand that a new development closer to Baker than Zachary attend Baker schools.

What is it about Ghana that draws all these politicians? Must be some massive grift that I don’t know about.

Because they like the sound of it as a destination better than Angola?
