1987 final four

I watched in the super dome and it was an amazing final four especially with the keith smart shot. But LSU got screwed against Indiana and should have been there even though i think UNLV destroys us

Had just moved to Nashville, and had won the lottery to buy two tickets for good seating. Gave the tickets to a friend after that game. Bobby Knight smashed the phone on the scorers table. He was not assessed any penalty, and we went into a shell to squander a lead.
It would have been back to back Final Fours.
To rub salt into the wound, Keith Smart, who was from La, made the game winning shot in New Orleans.

I think we had an 11 point lead with 3 minutes left. Knight threw his tantrum, the refs stared letting them maul us. The one time they called a foul, poor Fess Irwin missed.

A reporter asked Knight after the game if he was ever worried being down so late. He replied, at first I was, then I looked over and saw Dale Brown and knew we would be alright.

It was bullshite is what it was. The refs were scared of Bobby knight and Indiana shot a hundred free throws in the 2nd half bullshite.

Yep. I was working and recorded it on my VCR to watch it later. I had to avoid people during the day who tried to talk about it, so I could watch it later as if it was live. I was heartbroken when Wilson missed that last second jumper.

I think about the '87 basketball squad periodically. Yes.. they got screwed by the refs & Bobby Knight. Should have gone to the final four.
