As a die hard basketball fan, I would definitely swap the Pels for a competently run NHL franchise. Everyone I know that has attended a NHL game raves about how much fun they are.

That would eliminate like half the league. And the reigning champs are farther South than we are.

Hockey works in the South but not New Orleans. It would be an empty arena.

We not accounting for the diversity of our fanbase. Sports like football, basketball, and baseball is more relatable to black , brown, Asian and white fans vs hockey which historically is not as popular and diverse

I'm all for checking out Hockey and giving it a shot but it may be a slow burn with our culture.

I'm with you.
I've been watching more NHL lately and enjoy it so much more than basketball. The players and just the environement in general is what sports should be. Whatever the NBA is today is really a shitty product. The only reason I still watch is b/c I love basketball, but it's getting harder and harder to care to watch games. I definitely have checked out of most regular season games, and last year even playoff games got boring b/c a lot of the 1st round series had tons of blowouts.

Hockey is a great spectator sport in person, moreso than tv.
But I doubt it’s in the cards for N. O.

Much better chance of getting an nhl team than mlb( and it’s not a real strong chance). If the Pelicans improved to at least respectable, I’d stand pat with the Pels. MLB, NHL or MLB would be a pretty risky bet in this market. There’s a giant leap between fans following college baseball and filling a major league stadium on a regular basis…

And yet the Tampa Bay Lightning are one of the best teams in hockey every year and the games are lit. You gotta get out of the boot more my dude.
