This is a losing game for him and Republicans that stand with him on these tariffs. The general public won't understand the trade war, but they do understand the market going down and prices going up. He should have tried to use incentives to bring business back, but he chose the punitive route.

I really have no idea whether this plan is smart or dumb. It does seem insanely risky, though. Hopefully, markets settle down soon.

Bunk, do you think Trump wants lower trade barriers or higher?
Of course he wants lower trade barriers just like you.
What is different this time, Trump is willing to use tariffs as leverage to achieve lower trade barriers.

Other nations have been putting tariffs on us forever. It's time to return the favor. If they want to get their shite somewhere else, let them. It's time we move manufacturing back home. It will take a little hurt like the president says but it will be worth it in the end. If you have a little disposable money, I would buy stocks while they're low

Well, one concern I have is the goal posts keep moving on whatever the plan is here. One day, it's to bring back manufacturing, the next is to get other countries to reduce their tariffs. I think there have been a few others.

They will try and get it somewhere else and those countries will just tarrif them also LOL.
