Some states are destined to suck. Louisiana is the top dog in this category.

Want the truth?

All of the parish governments.

The collusion among families in the state to rob everyone else. All the contracts issued by the government entities go to family/friends not the best available.

We spend terribly, live even worse. We have the highest auto rates, highest home insurance, highest violent crime rate, most DWI's per capita.

You name a bad statistic, Louisiana is almost certainly in the top 5.

Not only all of this but you all think that no one else notices but they do and they point and laugh at the stupidity.

I can go Corey Booker about louisiana.

Being a (somewhat) socially conservative welfare queen state doesn't really do much to advance us as a society.

Our politicians are corrupt to the core. Everyone in an elected position is out for themselves, their friends and their family.

All those stats and everybody I know and those around me live just fine and we’re not even skimming off the government.

What people love to omit from the equation is that we have a large proportion of people who choose to live in poverty and suck the government tit. This brings the average way down however it doesn’t mean that those in the strata that is above average have a life That is less fulfilling or rewarding or whatever the metrics are than other places.

I’m retired, I’m just fine with no one wanting to come here.

It's more secluded than the rest. No large cities within 300 miles of new Orleans. Has worse weather than the others and no natural parks or mountains. The water and lakes are swampy and/or in poor geographical areas. The racial tension is much worse and more burdensome in Louisiana's large cities than the others. There is no industry here besides chemical plants.

New Orleans had 200 year head start, but let Houston, Dallas, Atlanta, etc outpace them economically in pretty much every aspect

It broke my heart to move out. I loved the land, the water, the food, the music, if I had a zillion dollars I'd have five boats and 200 guns and live the dream chasing fish and birds all over that state.

But for those of us that have to work, there is a lot working against us. My car insurance dropped BIGLY when I left. The schools got better. The crime is nonexistent.

Not much diversity when it comes to career options. Just same old shite day after day in Louisiana. Progress is not in the vernacular over there. That and the Good ol Boy mentality doesn’t help. I left because there are more opportunities elsewhere.

But we have to take responsibility.

We allow it.

A lot of people leave Louisiana for texas because Jeff Landry is transphobic and texas is woke and a liberal safe space

Populace finally did something smart. Credit where credit is due, that didn’t listen to uninformed dumbasses like you or greasy politicians.
