For too long, I refused to believe these people existed

There's a podcast called "Financial Audit" in which a finance expert reviews a guest's finances. Its an interesting look into society through a financial lens.
Yesterday's guest:
She makes $22.17 an hour and only works 30 hours a week at Starbucks, so right at $35k. He doesn't work. She supports him.
Some highlights:
1. They have pet rats that they paid $1,500 for. They spent $1,000 taking them to an emergency vet. They both died.
2. She has $25,000 in credit cards. She paid $10,000 off from a previous relationship and then charged it back up on this makeup wearing freak.
3. She has an addiction to something called a "Plushie" that she has spent thousands on. Its a stuffed animal.
4. Both are vegetarians. Their go to meal is microwaved blocks od soy with spicy mayo.

Starbucks is paying $22 an hour? Great, we’re going to have them demanding $25+ an hour for “living wage” soon

Pray to baby Jesus they don't procreate...

Im not going to listen, but did they at least sound happy? Or was it just Orange Man Bad?

I've seen clips of the show on YouTube. Those two are nowhere near the worst. The lack of financial literacy in this country is mind-boggling.

These are my kids' peers. When your kids are making big life decisions you always worry a bit and want them to be successful and hope they understand the impact their current choices will make down the road. You sure you want to major in that? Are you sure you want to work there?
Then I would see something like this and remind myself that their competition isn't me and it certainly isn't Elon or Bezos, it's 30 year old basket cases that spend $1500 on a rat. Mine are all doing well, but they could have made some truly horrible choices and they'd still be far, far more valuable to an employer and our society than those two clowns.

Well it does look like she's at least trying to save some money by cutting her own hair.

I don't have confirmation of this yet but I'm pretty sure his guests now are actors or clout chasers. I used to watch this guy in his early days when things seemed grounded, but now it seems a lot more like Jerry Springer. Which is fine, make entertainment. But don't fall for the bait.

These two are the type that don't want anymore white people in the world.

Don't know anything about the show, but if you look at US household financial statistics those two wouldn't be some pink unicorn anomaly. People like that absolutely exist.

These aren’t humans. They’re aliens.

The older my kids get the more I am instilling in them that the key to peace and a stress free life is to be debt free above all else. Act accordingly.

They didn't have people like that 200 years ago. People like this are what happens when there's abundance and social safety nets to use as hammocks. People like these would have starved or frozen to death 200 years ago, thus removing their genetic material from the gene pool.
