What is the right size pot for crawfish boil

I've been using a pretty small pot, don't even know the size, but it barely holds a sack of crawfish and can't have anythign else in it and I need to upgrade.
What is the ideal size for one sack and plenty of room for potatoes, corn, etc.?

General rule
80 qt = 1 sack
100 qt - 1.5 sacks = 3 sacks in 2 boils (handy if you occasionally boil for a group)
120 qt - 2 sacks in 1 boil
Beware: a 120 qt pot full of water will be very heavy

You have a 60 qt, most likely. They will barely hold a sack. 80qt is good for a sack. 100qt good for a sack and a good bit of accoutrements. 120 for 2 sacks.

I have a 100 quart and think it's the perfect size. FIL has a 60 quart and it's too small IMO.

bigger is just convenience for space but you sacrifice more time to get them up to a boil. you could jsut lower the water volume as well.

This is correct.
You have a 60 qt pot most likely. 80 qt is the perfect size for 1 sack plus plenty of room for vegetables / sides.

I have an 80 qt. pot and it easily holds mid 30 lb. sacks with all the fixings.
I can even get a 40 lb. sack to fit, but it is chock full at that weight.
I aim to buy 35-37 lb. sacks when I hit the seafood dealer.

I boil one sack at a time in an 80q stainless pot. Works perfectly.

Bruh. I have boiled more crawfish than you could imagine. I don’t like my crawfish coming out the top of the pot. I also take into consideration the basket. Some baskets leave less room than others. But pile on me and keep going with your Mickey Mouse one sack boils.

Is this supposed to be an insult? The thread is about a one sack boil. Your first post in this thread, while ridiculous, was about a one sack boil.

Bigger is better but 60qt works for me. We're in TX so not surrounded by coonasses boiling often or for large groups. And, we travel for boils more than at home. The pot/burner/tank all fit perfectly inside my wash tub to hit the road.

I never break a sweat emptying any pot of any size. The easiest way to do it is to take a long enough length of garden hose and put one end in the bottom of the pot when done boiling and put a brick on it to hold it down.
Then hook up the other end to your faucet and let it run into the pot to clear any air out of the hose. Then quickly unhook the end on the faucet and let it down on the ground below the bottom level of the pot and it will drain down to about 1 or 2 gallons left in the pot.
Just like you once syphoned gas out of your dad's gas tank as a kid to fuel your go-cart.
