When does that action become a technical foul?

Multiple times yesterday Michigan State scored and threw ball to their benches corner.

I thought I had seen teams warned about this delay action and subsequently given technicals.

Not all of us are as easy going about officiating as LSU fans.

I believe it CAN be a technical foul if they touch it at all. Or at least it they do anything other than hand it to the ref or the opposing player.

What you are saying is they were delaying auburns ability to inbounds quickly? I missed this but I was hitting the sauce pretty hard.

I guess the point was to give them more time to set up their defense?

ETA: Mich at had 1 foul until like the 19th minute of the 1st half. Auburn got some calls too so in general they let them
Play

Threw it to no one, one of their teammates on the bench, or an official?

Took ball out of basket and threw to corner.

Opposite corner where their bench was.

Not directly to anyone.

I guess it did not matter, but it looked like they did it to keep us from getting things in quickly in more of a scramble. Allowed them to set defense.

I saw this once also. He threw it in the general vicinity of the ref. Typically ref will issue a warning(but they don’t have to). If it continues to happen the can T them up.
I led district my senior year in rebounds on shots made??

The first time should be a warning at a minimum and a tech subsequently. I have seen it called but I feel like I have seen that not called a lot more in the last few years.

Keep in mind, not one kid playing in this tournament has a memory of LSU playing in an Elite 8….

I highly doubt a gym rat Izzo coached guy can’t throw a ball directly to an official.
