AI making artist obsolete is one of the greatest ironies of modern day.

These people believed automation would be able to phase out jobs a create a society that could focus on their passions such as art.

Now the one thing they wished for immediately came a took their jobs first. Animators already had it hard with pay cuts and more production demand. Now with AI that job will disappear. A year from now you can have one artist create a rough draft and have AI fill in the details.

I explained why, people thought automation would destroy blue collar jobs. That those were the things of the past and we would live in a world where people pursued passions.

Now blue collar work is more in demand than ever and AI will take the jobs people though we’re safe. I’m saying this as someone who job will 100% be affected by AI in the future.

It's an interesting debate. For the most part, I tend to dislike the stereotypical starving artist. That being said, art takes and evokes feelings, and offloading that to a machine just feels wrong.

Like someone else said, I won't cheer for jobs to end on a holistic/industry level for those willing to work, but on a situation to situation basis I can find the humor.

True art will never be replaced by AI.
I believe it was a Joe Rogan podcast I listened to a few months ago. They were discussing it.
Can AI create The Mona Lisa or Starry Starry night? Can it write a song like Bob Dylan in his prime?
There will always be a need for real human expression in our art. Fake art will never replace the real deal.

It’s more of a great irony type of funny.

I used to be one to dread technology evolution and the damages it will cause. However I learned you can’t stop progress it will come whether you like it or not. You can’t stop progress only adjust to it, it capitalism profit drives everything. So if you can make fan art for free or make a 20 million dollar budget get cut to 5 million technology will always win. Especially for an industry that is considered more passion than necessity.

It will phase out real artist from fake artist. So many artist today are great skill wise but lack originality and expression. It’s just cut and paste of the same styles. We’ll probably see an art renaissance of more unique human driven art in terms of expression that will become harder to find.

What is they pass a law that being a dick or troll on the internet is punishable by death, then the gov uses AI to crawl this site and identifies the op. That would be nice, maybe ironic?

Chicken needs to sell before then because the value of TD will drop faster than tulips in 1637 as the population of TD experiences a mass extinction event.

While art might not be a necessity, it’s important to society. Beauty inspires. Trash makes you wanna be trash. Look at how awful architecture is now compared to the past.

Art is one of the few things that really separates humans from other animals. Bees build the same hive. Bird species the same nests. We have a strange desire to create things that inspire and scratch our artistic needs. Buildings, cars, songs, everything. The keyboard I type on exists in thousands of varieties and colors for instance.

Not hilarious, but it is true in large part. As an computer animator since the dawn of CGI history, the writing is on the wall. AI can generate images in a seconds that would take me weeks with all of my advanced tools.

Soon it will be able to do TV series, movies and commercials and the media world will be turned upside down. Still it will take artistic skill, but one person of talent will be able to displace whole production companies.
