The price of Canadian built cars for a short time? Maybe.
Celebrate while filling your current car’s gas tank whilst going to buy a dozen eggs!

The price of almost everything made in the US is going to go up.
Manufacturers are just starting to implement price increases.

Not exactly…
Asked by NBC News’ Kristen Welker in a phone interview about whether he pressured automakers to avoid raising prices after his 25% tariffs on imported cars and parts go into effect, Trump denied that he told CEOs to control costs.
“No, I never said that,” Trump told Welker. “I couldn’t care less if they raise prices, because people are going to start buying American cars.”

Asked if he was concerned about car prices going up, Trump said, “No, I couldn’t care less, because if the prices on foreign cars go up, they’re going to buy American cars.”
After the interview, an aide to the president followed up with NBC News to say that Trump was referring specifically to foreign car prices.

When pressed if he told CEOs not to raise prices, as reported in the The Wall Street Journal, Trump added, “No, I never said that. I couldn’t care less if they raise prices, because people are going to start buying American-made cars.”
Trump continued, “I couldn’t care less. I hope they raise their prices, because if they do, people are gonna buy American-made cars. We have plenty.”

But, anyone with a functioning brain knows that American manufacturers will raise their own prices because of decreased competition from foreign competitors.

This is like "there were good people on both sides"...kind of journalism
what is Trump trying to do for Americans?
My Gosh people, do you really think he wants prices to go up in our lives or weaken our dollar's purchasing power?

I planned on buying a new vehicle this year but will be holding off. Despite what Trump says, auto prices are going to increase by thousands of dollars this year due to the tariffs. American cars use Canadian steel so I’m not sure how those won’t jump in price either. I want my next car to last for a long time and American made cars are not generally known for reliability.

The one that doesn't gains market share. The goal is to make more total profit, not profit per car. When more manufacturing moves here, any company that has higher prices will lose out as costs decrease for the competitors. Many of the companies have room to expand already in their US plants, so it will not take long.
It becomes of choice of what you prefer, long term gain or the status quo because there might be short term discomfort.

Honda and Toyota sure went from bulletproof to "pretty reliable" around the time they shifted manufacturing here. Now cars got a lot more complex in that time, so that's probably some of it, but work ethic and pride in what you produce is something Japanese culture excels at. Ours, not so much.
