Are ads starting to creep into "ad free" streaming plans?

Was watching Den of Thieves on Peacock (Premium Plus), ads before...normal...then 40 minutes in 3 minutes of ads.

Look on Roku and it's on Prime. Go to Prime, see for the first time that ads are included...see it's on AMC+ with no ads, get a trial AMC+ subscription...ads.

Am I just out of the loop because I don't watch much newer stuff? If I'm going to have ads destroy a movie, I can watch it on Tubi.

You have to pay extra for the ad free plans now

Sounds like you're watching this thing called cable TV we used to watch. You would pay for it and the ads were non-stop!

no such thing anymore. They have tricked you. It's kind of the wording you lawyers use when stretching the truth "lying"

Then my streaming consumption is about to severely decrease on those platforms.

I think i hacked a roku tv ad trick. Pause during the initial ads, and it won’t play anymore ads the rest of your show. (Magnum PI ) about an 80% success rate.

Yes!

Finally decided to drop the 2 or 3 bucks extra a month on Prime to watch Reacher... tried watching something else, a documentary or something, and it was 'only available with ads'... like, wtf is the extra ad free money for each month?! Hate it!

With Prime I saw some British TV like that, but I assumed it was just Freeve without the branding. But Den of Thieves?

You sure it’s not AIDS you’re getting?

That’s a different subscription if you want AIDS free.

I'm wondering when this is going to happen and wipe out a bunch of streaming services.

I think you do get higher resolution with the paid services, but that shouldn't be the only benefit

My favorite is this message:

"Your ad free programming will continue after this brief message"

Not exact but that's the gist of it

New Hulu Subscriber Agreement includes some Ads in their Ad Free subscriptions. (on this board)

quote:

Hulu's new subscriber agreement includes this bullet point:

• We are clarifying that, as we continue to increase the breadth and depth of the content we make available to you, circumstances may require that certain titles and types of content include ads, even in our 'no ads' or 'ad free' subscription tiers.

Disney does this across all tiers too. I think they’ve taken some heat for it but with everything else they’re dealing with it seems like small potatoes. There’s a YouTube about this very subject that I can’t seem to find now and how ubiquitous it’s become over all services.

That’s why I pirate more and more.

I don’t mind some ads but the frequent and/or long ones, especially at the worst time are enough to force the issue. And shouldn’t be ANY MFing ads the last 30 mins of a movie.

Prime Ad-Free is hogwash because it's limited and just for basic Prime while Ad On Channels and their trial deals make the service...but they are not part of the Ad-free promise and every TV show is worse than commercials on a Cable AMC movie or an SEC football game.

I don’t specifically pay for any, but get Max and Prime indirectly and a few others from sharing.

When the ads come on I pick up my cell and see what's happening on TD.
