NIL money, not McMahon, the problem with men's basketball

College men's basketball is all about the money now. If you don't have a substantial block of money to pay players, you aren't going to have a good team.
Let's see what Coach McMahon can do now that he has a reasonable amount of money to use in securing players.
I believe that he is not the problem and a lack of funding has been the problem.
I wish someone would explain why LSU clearly underfunded men's basketball.

I want to see if money leads to less box scores like this example:
LSU 32 27
Opp 30 49

I agree. Now that McMahon has money, his team needs to perform well.

Consistently one of the worst posters on this site. Particularly when it comes to basketball.

Oh look another basketball expert. This is the guy that was pissed the Wade replaced Johnny Jones and now he's championing the coach with the worst three year stint in LSU basketball history. Look at the bright side, he's making Jones look good.

What is the excuse going to be this year when we miss the tournament, again?

Both things can be true; MM is the worst coach in history and our MBB is suffering mightily from a lack of support. It’s not an either or.

We haven't had one of these posts yet, very interesting and infomative.

I don't know why we have to keep beating a dead horse...
People should be excited about next season. Either we have been behind on NIL and this increased focus we can get better...or McMahon will crash and burn and get fired. We are either going to the tournament or getting a new coach and start a new era

Finally the McMahon-Woodward will be exposed as the death of Tiger hoops. To say money is the problem deflects criticism from the fact McMahon has run off the few decent players committed to the program. If both Millers enter the portal that leaves him with Jalen Reed as the only guy to stick it out. That, with poor development and lack of enthusiasm is a recipe for disaster which will become painfully evident. I hope I am wrong but the sooner change course the better. I have little confidence if Woodward can right the ship.

A would be All American, who no one thought was an All American before the season, was injured.
The league was too tough.
LSU didn't spend enough money.
The transfers just didn't pan out.
The refs screwed LSU.
The fans didn't show up.
But here is a fun thought. When the job was available both Todd Golden and Grant McCasland were quickly listed as potential candidates. You can watch their teams play one another on Saturday for a trip to the Final Four.
Woodward chose McMahon.

Give it up. Nothing is going to happen, if anything happens, until after next season. The bitching and moaning broken record needs to stop. LSU Basketball is done for this season.

Yet in his 3 years here he's somehow landed 2 recruiting classes ranked in the top 5 of the SEC as well as 2 portal classes ranked in the top 5 of the SEC. But sure. Its been a lack of talent.

I may never get over McMahon running off Tyrell Ward for Dji Bailey...I don't have a clue how you could watch the 2 of them and pick Bailey. I think you switch Bailey and Ward, Reed doesn't get hurt...the season is almost drastically changed.
Robert Miller at this point would be a shock to enter the portal, and Givens has not announced anything.
The problem is McMahon has recruited HSers and college basketball is about Senior transfers. VJ Miller is going to be an electric player in 3 years...right now he is a high volume shooter that makes Freshman mistakes. You obviously want to keep him because he is an awesome talent, but even next year, if you plan on being good and not just barely squeak into the NCAAT, VJ Miller should be a guy off the bench like Terry Martin used to be
I could see V Miller transferring to a small school and scoring 20 a game then go back to a P4 school for JR and SR year and we watch him drop 25 in a Sweet 16 game
