Pretty crazy how these have sky rocketed. Doesn't seem like too long ago you had team like the Rays worth less than 300mm

If I’m being honest I always thought those bottom tier teams seemed way too cheap. Not because I thought financially they were worth more, but because I assumed there was some rich guy out there willing to pay more. There’s very few clubs like the “I own a pro team club”

Cubs still being at 4 just reinforces how bullshite it is when Ricketts acts like he can't spend money

Crazy that a team located in Miami, a major hub for all of Latin America, has the lowest valuation.

There are a few outliers but this is essentially a "US metros by population" list.
There were a few weird ones to me so i looked it up and sure enough, way down the list.
basically
Rank the metro areas in the US. Knock down the teams that are second fiddle in their own metro. Boston, StL, and SF get big historical bumps.
And then the Marlins lol.
team that juped out to me are the DBacks are in the 10th largest market.
If im buying a MLB franchise im looking at the marlins/dbacks/rangers

If the Padres went with these colors instead of that old school, ugly arse brown and yellow, they'd be in worth more than the Yankees, no doubt.

I'm sure Jim Crane is thrilled with his ROI.

MLB just doesn’t have the relevance that NFL and NBA and soon college teams will have

Padres- new ball park and no competition from NFL, NHL, or NBA

It shows how much inflation there's been. The dollar isn't worth what it used to be.
Still those are impressive numbers. Wish my sport had even a fraction of that money.

This is actually a really good way to look at it.
Boston, SF, Baltimore, and St. Louis are all baseball towns at heart and this shows that dynamic.

What is the basis for those valuations?

And the Rays are playing at Zephyr fields. They'd double the value of the hard headed owner would move to Nashville

Pretty crazy when you put it like that
