I like Blue Star, but that’s out of my price range. I’m looking to a moderate level product line.

Thanks

Love my Bluestar, but that's not helpful to you. My only input is that generally speaking, if they make a good TV, they make shitty appliances.

We have had a Kitchen Aid gas cooktop for more than 17 years. Damn good.

Also Kitchen Aid dishwasher of more than 20 years. Next one will be a Bosch.

Our new Whirlpool oven is really nice.

Just bought new Speed Queen washer to replace LG.

Top of the line Kenmore garbage disposal going on 30 years. Don’t know what I will do when it goes out.

LG fridge is OK , better than the Samsung that crapped out. Will go Kitchen Aid next time.

See if you can bundle witj HD/Lowe's/Costco. Avoid Samsung like the plague. We didn't bundle because we needed upgraded at separate times, but we have KitcheAid range/oven, LG microwave, Whirlpool side by side fridge/freezer. Freezer ice maker has broken 3 times so we bought a countertop one that makes bullet ice. Not getting a new fridge though because I really like the water fill feature that will pour water out in 1/4s of a cup to whatever you want it at.

Costco will provide removal of older appliances for free, most companies will install with braided water lines if you pay for that, again check the companies you buy from.

You can’t go wrong with GE.

Whirlpool is really good also. Personally I stay away from LG and Samsung for anything other than a tv.

the stovetop the blue star is replacing I got for 150 bucks at goodwood hardware (it was a return). It is 20 years old and still cooking. You don’t need to spend big bucks on gas appliances if you don’t want to…all it needs to do is make a flame and not fall apart

Same except replace blue star with AGA range. Who gives a shite about matching; get best-in-class for each.

I regret nothing and I think we have a Frigidaire microwave that's hidden in our pantry because let's face it, nobody wants to see your ugly arse microwave.

Other things: $79 garage disposal from Costco, Amazon Chinese 36" stainless single pan sink, Moen touchless faucet, De'Longhi dinamica coffee machine, smeg toaster, ninja blender...

I think that mostly covers it

bundle with HD/Lowe's/Costco. Avoid Samsung

At retirement 10 years ago, we went Maytag for dishwasher, fridge (French door), washer & drier, but stayed with 45 year-old Whirlpool electric wall oven, 25 year-old GE Profile gas stovetop and 25-year-old GE Profile Microwave.

My 1st advice is work with an established local appliance company with a service dept. In BTR Stanton's was only $25 over Lowe's price for the whole lot. We've never needed service, but know who to call. The French door on the fridge worries me a bit due to its complexity, but so far it's good, parts are easy to find and DIY swap out looks easy,

My 2nd advice is choosing appliances with the fewest extra features you can live with. The fridge doesn't need to be an entertainment center.

It's hard to recommend a brand because brand ownership is always in flux. That makes my 10 year-old experience worthless. A good website for what's really US made is: LINK

To my surprise, German Bosch and Korean LG now have US assembly plants since about 2020. Personally, I like LG and Samsung electronics, but I avoid their appliances.

We built 6 years ago, went with Thor fridge and range. Both have been flawless, especially for the money. Would buy them again if we moved. Dishwasher we went with a Bosch. Very happy there as well.

Whatever you do, don't get Samsung appliances.

I'd also recommend getting the most simple version of whatever appliance you are buying. The more "features" it has beyond its primary function, the more likely it is that something is going to break.

I've had good luck so far with GE, but I also apply the aforementioned rule. I get the most bare-bones appliance. If it's a refrigerator and it has wi-fi, stay the frick away from it. Same with washing machines and dryers. You don't need all that shite. You want it to refrigerate your food or wash and dry your clothes. That's it.

Edited to add: Don't get a refrigerator with an ice-maker in the refrigerator compartment. It's crazy over-engineered stuff like this that will frustrate you down the road. Stay with tried and true designs.

Truthfully, unless you pay for the higher end of appliances that go about $10k for a full kitchen, you are going to run the highest risk of any maintenance issues within 2 years of ownership. We have had 3 ice makers go out and 1 igniter go out in our oven. The replacement igniter has lasted longer than the original for some reason, and I have been running it over 500 degrees at times for pizza. There is not as much consistency across brands/appliances other than the fact they are all inconsistent. Our LG WashTower has been pretty great so far. I would not try to put it through the toughest jobs, but for standard washing/drying it is a workhorse. Their app also helps notify us when washing/drying is done and that's a convenient feature even though we didn't ask for it.

I generally try to stick with appliances that keep their scope of business limited. LG is fine with the microwave, but I would not trust them or Samsung (as I have been let down in the past) to make great phones, TVs, refrigerators, ovens, all at the same time.

Samsung appliances.

I had two Samsung fridges, and two washers & dryers over 15 years, and the only problem I had was the icemaker shitting the bed on the last fridge two years in. Didn't replace any of them, they stayed with the first house when sold.

GE Monogram dishwasher needed to be ripped out in 3 years.

OP, I don't think you can look by brand. The same brand may have varying guts, may be manufactured on different lines in different places, etc. It's not going to hurt you to spend $20 for a temporary subscription to Consumer Reports for thousands of dollars worth of purchases.

I've had a full kitchen suite from Samsung for the better part of a decade and the only issue any of them have had is the fricking ice maker jamming every other day. Other than that they have all performed flawlessly.

This, if in Baton Rouge, call Stanton’s, ask for Kathy, tell her Dad sent you. Make an appointment, as to she stays busy.

Stay away from LG and Samsung, Stanton’s won’t sell them. Not worth the hassle.

I'm a whirlpool guy all the way. Not sure I will ever by a washer, dryer, refrigerator, freezer, or dishwasher that isn't a whirlpool. Next range I buy will be a hybrid elec/gas and I would have to research it a bit to make that recommendation.
