Watched this movie in theatres at release. Left early. Over the years I think its a masterpiece. It was made for John Cusack. Maybe his best ever. The writer clearly had a pulse on the male psychy.

Well John Cusack definitely convinced me to buy that Beta Band LP only to find out that it was the only good song on the album. Great song and great movie

I miss Cusack, haven't t seen him in anything for a bit. Seemed he drifted into straight-to-DVD crap for a while then disappeared.

Jack Black basically being the record store version of the Soup Nazi was hilarious.

Feels like the last thing I saw him in was Hot Tub Time Machine

Great book, enjoyable movie... I agree that Cusack was perfect in that role. Sadly, some of the venues in the movie are no longer there.. RIP Lounge Ax and Double Door!
I walk by the Championship Vinyl building quite often... Wicker Park has changed so much in the past 25 years...
On a side note,The Beta Band has sold out The Metro later this year, playing the Three EPs in its entirety...

One of favorites, everything is right in my wheelhouse.

Hey TFTC, I noticed you're in Chicago. What part of town are you in?
I was born there. Also lived in Cicero, Berwyn, Westchester and New Lenox.

Don’t like John Cusack in that role. Not a big fan anyways. The girlfriend is the worst though. Something about her. Just not likeable and not a good actress if you ask me.
Everyone else in the movie were great.

I'd say Grosse Pointe Blank but you could probably go either way.

GBP and HF are like 2 sides of the same coin if you think about it.
GPB is the superior movie by far though.

Agreed. Otherwise though, I really like the movie and will watch it whenever it rolls around on streaming. Jack Black. Lisa Bonet. Catherine Zeta Jones. All good little parts.
I know Cusack is supposed to be a huge a-hole irl, but I like Grosse Pointe Blank and this movie too much to hate Lloyd Dobler.

Was nice enough to take a picture with my wife walking out of a Cubs game in Wrigley some 25 years back so I give him an IRL upvote.
