They were already in trouble, but now say there's no way to save their stores. They specifically blame ultra-cheap Chinese shops for their extinction.
No buyers have emerged, so, buh bye.

Forever 21 filed for bankruptcy protection for the second time in six years on Sunday and blamed fast-fashion e-tailers Shein and Temu for its demise. The retailer’s operating company is expected to cease all operations in the U.S. and has already begun liquidation sales at its more than 350 locations, but it’s still open for bids if a buyer is willing to take on its inventory and keep running its stores, court filings show.

I get that sentiment, but this is just another in a long line of U.S. retailers that are being put out of business by Amazon and Shein selling the same Chinese crap at lower prices.
The only thing still propping up the existing mall retail stores are old people who buy brown shoes and dress pants every 5 years.

This is strategic IMO. Their parent company went through a merger earlier this year.
If it wasn’t posted here I may never have known it ever existed much less closed up.

Pretty sure all these retailers were selling Chinese crap all along, you just had to drive to a store to buy it instead of getting it delivered to your front door.

They used to be a business that had a Christian faith. As soon as they turned woke and started putting rainbow flags on their windows, they started struggling

It’s because Canada slapped a huge tariff on midriffs.

They are/ were just a brick and mortar version of shein. Nether of which are good for the us economy. But at least forever 21 hires actual people in the US and lease commercial space in the US.
