SEC championships
Kentucky 50
LSU 12
Tennessee 11
Alabama 10
Florida 5
Final Fours
Kentucky 17
Arkansas 6
Florida 5
Oklahoma 5
LSU 4
Texas 3
Alabama 1
Auburn 1
Miss. St. 1
Georgia 1
South Carolina 1
To put things in perspective:
SEC football championships
Alabama 30
Georgia 15
Tennessee 13
LSU 12
Florida 8
LSU basketball is not a historical doormat like some make it out to be and every LSU fan should be outraged at what the LSU administration is doing.

You shouldn’t post things like this, you’re going to upset the make it stop crowd. TD message boards are only for what people want to read. Only if people had the freedom to choose what links they click, but alas, woe is them.

Facts, which the ranters are likely completely unaware of.

Yeah your forgetting that we derailed the program and canned WW when we were going to the tourney, every year.
You could go ahead and add 3 more appearances if you want to be fair.

knowing the factoid that we only ever won the conference tournament once in 1980 that is a shocker. Wouldn’t have guessed we had the most regular season titles outside of Kentucky

Who was the coach that made almost half of those?
Posted on 3/17/25 at 9:33 am to LSUbasketballfan
Hold on dude people are gonna call you retarded for thinking we should have a competent basketball program.

Agreed. It’s a disgrace and Scott Woodward needs to address the fanbase.

The one who made the NCAAT 3 times but didn’t even get to coach the team in 2 of them

Its damn shame...what the LSU basketball world is gotten to.
For people like me and people like you
Wish I could just wake up and it not be true
But it is, oh, it is

Jim, the next incarnation of LE, ladies and gents.
Better off just not making the NCAAT. Then no one needs to coach the team. Did I get your 8th grade logic correct?

LSU is a football school first and a baseball school 2nd. They are considered championship pedigree programs.Basketball has always been an in and out program regardless of the stats you posted. I believe it has the potential to be a consistently relevant program but we have never been able to find that coach since Dale Brown who had the longest successful tenure. Brady had a run but then petered out. Wade was on his way but got fired. No guarantee he wouldn't have ended up like Brady but we don't know. LSU has the national brand to attract a great coach but our facilities are behind a lot of other schools. NIL $$$ will be imperative and looks like they may be willing to address that now but let's not act like we are Kentucky.

Incorrect. Since 1950, the official SEC champion has gone to the team with the best regular season record

We deserve and should expect a better product than this. End of discussion. Period.

quote:In 1985 no one knew LSU had a baseball program. LSU basketball already had arguably the greatest player in the entire history of MBB and just a few years removed from an elite eight and final four - and would have another final four and elite eight before anyone knew the name Ben McDonald.

TD children and revisionist history.

To be fair, most LSU basketball fans knew Ben McDonald during the elite eight season since he was on the team with a basketball scholarship.

To be fair, most LSU basketball fans knew Ben McDonald during the elite eight season since he was on the team with a basketball scholarship.
And to be additionally fair, some know Ben from HS prior to enrolling at LSU in ‘86.
But yeah, you right.

This is like Nebraska football posting historical stats.
