What was all the random changeups with Schmidt. Kid is a freshman. He can barely command his breaking ball, sometimes FB. Any other weird calls by Yeskie?

Schmidt was missing with his fastball too.

He's young and was excited

I don’t remember seeing this. What’s he saying?! He is greatly missed in the back end of this pen!

That’s what I saw. Amped up and nervous combo = lack of control.

He’ll learn quickly from this.

Schmidt is currently more of a thrower than a pitcher

Post game podcast (ays), said the book is out on Yeskie sequence of pitch calling. He needs to mix it up vs Texas.

Looks something along the lines of “all fricking fastballs, what are we doing”

Never been a huge fan of Yeskies pitch calling, or untimely mound visits.

Schmidt couldn’t land anything for a strike. Just like his last outing. Long way for him to be trusted in a big spot on the weekends

That was one of the weirdest mound visits ive ever see yesterday.

Like he was chewing out Dickinson and talking to everyone but Eyanson

You obviously never played baseball. You never chew your pitchers arse on the mound. You get after infielders and your pitcher knows you mean business. You get it across to your pitcher thru infielders. And infielders understand this.

I can't think of a positive outcome of his mound visits ever lol. I agree it was strange. Yeskie just kinda seems like he's always playing his own made up version of chess while everyone else involved is playing dodgeball. You throw a kid a high fastball he whiffs and then you call 5 straight curveballs it's baffling.

Sometimes when a pitcher is struggling with location of fastballs a pitching coach will call a completely different pitch to break the pitchers routine. I don’t know how effective it is, but I’ve definitely seen it many times with random off speed pitches even on 3-0 counts.

To be fair, a lot of folks were saying this last season and then the pitching drastically improved late in the season.

It's hard for me to believe that Yeskie has long been considered an elite pitching coach and has just suddenly forgotten how to be effective.

Just my opinion though, I'm not an expert or anything.

I agree with not chewing some pitchers arse on the mound, I caught and some pitchers respond well to an arse chewing some fold up. Gotta know your team.
