Hey guys, my wife and I have $1000 that we would like to invest in the stock market to kind of learn more how it all works.
What app/program should we use to trade and what would be some good starter stocks to invest in?
Thanks in advance!

Read the book “Simple Path To Wealth” by JL Collins. It was eye opening for me.
I would stay away from individual stocks to start and start putting money regularly away in a low cost index fund. I use FSKAX but there are several out there and you can pick one at the brokerage of your choice.

You can never go wrong buying hookers and blow - or so I've been told.

What is your strategy? Long term, short term, day trading? I assume you are young?

To be honest, I’m not sure what our strategy is. We are both in our mid 30s and I guess for now it would be short term but eventually would move to long term.

Buy index funds only and set it up as a recurring weekly investment. I’d recommend an S&P 500 index or a total stock market index. Diversifies your risk and you’ll get a good amount of growth. Set this up in a Roth IRA if you can for tax free growth to retirement. Don’t overthink it.

Don't try to out smart the pros just buy an index fund and get average returns owning a bit of all the largest company stocks.
If your outlook is short term and you need this money just buy CDs or use a HYSA.
