Need to get an outdoor ceiling fan with lights. Any recommendations? Get inexpensive fan to replace when goes out or higher quality fan? Number of fan blades makes any difference?

I'd get a 3 blade DC motor fan off of Amazon. Get one with blades made from ABS. Will not warp from humidity.

Ive had cheap ones and good ones. I have good ones now.

Honestly, I’d get the ones you like the looks of. As noted, composite blades should last longer.

But imo, their all cheap junk dressed differently. If it has a warranty, you will probably use it.

I put in a couple,of Hunter fans a few years ago and have been really happy with their performance. A bit pricey but worth ithe investment, we spend a lot of time out back

Extreme H2O. Bigger=better.

If you want to go well beyond $500 then you’ll deal with homers, but the minka is king of mid range.

Don't bother to clean them, just turn it on before company comes over.

Same for me. I put mine up on my back porch before Katrina hit in 05 and it's still working fine. Just make sure to buy one rated for "Outdoor Use".

Here is a thread I started about an issue with the newer remote-only operated units in case you are wiring it yourself to dual switches for light and fan control. Few posters provided good workarounds if needed. I ended up going with a cheaper outdoor-rated Hunter unit from a box store that had the pull switches.

Bumping thread

My overhang is 20’x18’, what size fan should I get?

I’m just from reading treads online, 72inch fans will not give you airflow directly underneath of the ceiling is not tall enough.
Anyone has this problem?

Should a 54” fan work?
3 blade or 5 blade fans?
