We gave Johnson 3 years 30 million and Broncos just signed a much better tight end in Evan Engram for 2 years 23 million . Makes sense

Its a difference of 1.5 million a year, but Engram is under contract for a year less.

Given our situation, I'd rather have less years on the deal.

Soooooo….Now take Engram’s salary and add 6.5M for the dead money we would have incurred by voiding JuWan’s contract.

quote:

Juwan Johnson's new deal: 3 years, $21.25 million guaranteed w/ $11M signing bonus

2025: $1.17M base fully guaranteed 2026; $9.08M base fully guaranteed 2027: $7.5M base, $2M roster bonus 5th day of league year

Up to $1.25M available in incentives for catches, yards, awards

Or we can just FREE up 5M by just having JJ on the team

No use. This board has moved on to full offseason delusion mode.

I think JJs contract has zero guarantees in the 3rd year.

Essentially a 2 year deal with 20m guaranteed

Even still, the cap will be so high by then this number wont be a factor.

bunchie, they are both most likely 2 yr deals. Saints have an out 2 yrs and 21.25 million while allowing us to push about 6 million dead cap further out.

Are you dumb. Engram simple math is hard for you. $23 million over 2 years versus $30 million over 3 hmmm.

Loomis has been getting roasted on the radio for the signing.

And he should. Like one guy said, maybe, maybe for 20 million for three years.

No way in hell should he be making 10 million a year. His blocking pass, and run blocking is atrocious. It’s why Kubiak had Moreau starting over him.

This was as stupid as giving Cam that big extension at 34 years old.

Missing the point, we should’ve let him walk, get a comp pick, and draft one this year in a deep te draft to back up Moreau, or send a mid tier pick and get the raiders te on the block.

And not nearly as good. And Engram ain’t even that good. Johnson wouldn’t make the roster on the majority of teams in the league. He is boo Williams

quote:

Evan Engram among TEs since 2022:

?? 234 receptions (2nd)
?? 2,094 receiving yards (5th)
?? 97 first downs (6th)

You are aware this reduces in the future we can spend on future needs, right?

While the Commanders can afford Deebo Samuel and Tunsil type all pros, we kick the can on journeyman TE types.

Moore made a huge mistake hitching his wagon to Loomis. The majority of candidates who punted on the Saints showed much more sense.

I’ll give Moore a shot but he clearly was hard up for any HC job.
