Next Pope? Cardinal Erdo would be a great choice

Cardinal Erdo is the Archbishop of Budapest and a traditional Catholic. Does not support illegal immigration and is not a Jesuit. It may be a long shot to get a Pope like this, as it seems more likely we get someone even more left than Francis

Europe and Immigration: “The question of immigration has numerous aspects. It is obvious that everyone has the sacred right to try to survive in situations of famine, civil war and threats to life. But then you cannot force the Europeans to allow entrance — even illegally and without any control — to the entire world into their countries, because doing so would break down public order, something that is very attractive to those living in chaos. We must therefore find the truth in this situation, looking for the true balance precisely in the key of solidarity and mercy.

The current Antipope needs to kick the bucket first.

Whoever this board thinks will be a good choice is probably not going to be the choice.
I pope I’m wrong though.

Vegas Odds are showing Erdo has a 6:1 chance. However there are two liberals showing better odds.
Francis has stacked the CoC, so it may be hard to get a conservative through, but if there are enough votes to form a bloc, they may at least be able to block a full blown leftist like some of the liberal canidates being floated that have Francis ties.

Make no mistake, Leftists in the Catholic Church are not afraid to cause a schism, any more than Episcopals, Methodist, etc

I want the black dude to get it!

If you're not Catholic, why care?

The current pope is in the generation that embraced Liberation Theology, a communist doctrine that came out of Latin American churches back in the 70s and spread to Rome. I've read that the generation behind them (like Erdo) rejects the communist shift and will restore traditional Catholicism.

Cardinal Sarah probably has been dragged thru the mud a little too much to be a canidate that can make it through. Would be happy with him if he was considered.
Bishop Strickland or Bishop Vigano would also be great, but no chance.

I love Cardinal Sarah. I love the way he has spoken out against our current Pope, I can't even say his name, he has been such a disappointment.
I don't think he would ever be elected, but that is the type Pope we need.

He doesn't have to kick the bucket, just needs to step down with his health issues and age and they can get a traditionalist back in the Vatican.

How can you take some seriously when they are dressed in such a ridiculous costume?
Posted on 3/12/25 at 1:42 pm to DefCon1
And what do you believe in?

Cardinal Sarah would exorcise the Vatican and restore sanity.
At this point, anything but another Jesuit.

Guarantee that the next Pope is as bad as the current pretender.
