I think this team is extremely strong but we have to stop the walks. We gave up seven walks last night. We can’t do that against SEC competition.

I am enjoying it but looking at this team as a whole. It’s one weakness is walks given up.

You realize most of those pitchers that issued the walks don't really pitch on weekends unless in an emergency. Only way you get better is by playing. Besides this was the perfect non-pressure situation for them.

Most of the pitchers that have stepped up and will pitch on weekends are doing just fine with the walks. The ones who are walking a lot of people will not be put in the pressure situation on a weekend game until they can figure it out.

The starters and top relievers have done really well limiting the walks.

Clam down dude. We mostly pitched the back end of the bullpen.

As most said pay attention to the walks and who does it. The top end arms are better at not walking guys.
Noot is probably someone he would like to get more out of, but is t quite there yet. We knew mayers was going to be wild.

You're the second or third person to say this. Are we really calling Schmidt, Ware, Noot, Rizy, and Evans the back of the bullpen?

Biggest concern is left handed relief pitching
Still confident in Ware though despite two rough outings

I guess we should be glad that they were trying to work it out before SEC play

I would like to see Ware with Hernandez catching. Arambide is not framing anything at this point in his career.

I'm pretty sure everyone but Mayers, of those who pitched last night, will see plenty of action on the weekends. They've all got some warts to work through (well, last night not withstanding, Evans has actually had no trouble at all), but from what I've seen, they are among our best options. With other guys struggling just as much with command, but having shown less flashes of brilliance, I'm not sure who all we can put ahead of them, aside from Cowan, and maybe Guidry, who has to actually get on the field first.

It was a midweek game and one of the worst performances so far this season in terms of walks given up. Our best arms are being held back for the weekend. We are averaging 3.83 walks per game, in 2023 we averaged 3.82, it was 4.05 last season.

Meanwhile, LSU is in the top 10 in the NCAA in hits allowed per nine innings and Team ERA.

I think we will just need to see where the chips fall once we start SEC play.
