Bring on tSweet release of McDeath. This season ending will probably be the highest high since the k state game.

The punishment of an NIT bid may keep this going a few more days...

Bracketology is so low on us that they have South Carolina who finished below us at 2-16 getting the autobid over us at 3-15. Can’t even explain that unless we were to turn down the bid

When I read the selection criteria a while back the way it was worded didn’t necessarily sound like it went by conference standings. I didn’t think it would matter at the time since it looked like LSU and South Carolina would be the only two SEC teams not in the NCAAT, but maybe they are now ahead of us in whatever metric or ratings are actually used?

The NIT uses something called a KNIT score for the 2 auto qualifiers from each ACC and SEC and 1 auto qualifier from 12 other conferences.

The KNIT - which is new to me - is a combination of Kenpom, NET, BPI and others. That could put USCe ahead of us regardless of regular season standings. I know they’re ahead in Kenpom.

I used to love the SEC Tournament. Knew who was playing when. Now I can’t care less. All I know is that we’re going to lose.

Thanks McMahon & Woodward!

I miss the excitement of conference tournament play when your team actually stood a chance to advance and look forward to selection Sunday to see which bracket the team would be in.

The apathy surrounding the current MBB situation is obvious considering lack of any ghost of Antonio Hudson threads. We usually have some good spirited hope at minimum going into SEC tournament. First time I believe I’ve seen no mention of this tradition on tigerdroppings prior to kickoff of the tournament, which is how we have typically celebrated the start of the post season.

Sad that I am more excited to watch McNeese vs Lamar than LSU vs Miss St.

This is a testament to how far the program has fallen. Can remember as a kid listening on a radio in my room when every conference tournament game wasn't televised

I think LSU is slightly ahead of USC in the some of the other metrics, including NET.

I wouldn't be surprised if LSU makes the NIT. Not because of anything they accomplished on the court. But because they backed into a bid by default. If 13 SEC teams reach the NCAAT (a real possibility), LSU (along with Texas) likely gets the SEC auto bid. However, even if LSU doesn't immediately get an auto-bid if 13 teams don't make the NCAAT, they may STILL get an invite simply because the teams ahead of them decline. Ole Miss declined last year, which bumped LSU and Georgia into the auto-bid spots.

Texas (currently sitting at 14th in the SEC in the NCAAT pecking order), may be firing their HC. If so, they probably decline the NIT bit to not waste time restarting the program. If OU doesn't make the NCAAT it is possible they consider making a coaching change too.

This should go to show everyone how completely irrelevant the NIT really is. It's not an "accomplishment". It's the "Birmingham Bowl" of college basketball for power conf. programs. Most of the players would rather just end the season instead of having to practice another week or two. Of course, if/when LSU makes the NIT our resident McMahon cheerleaders will spam the board celebrating two straight "postseason" appearances!

I don’t know what I’ll do if 3-15 LSU is left out of the NIT.

I'll move on with my life as if the basketball season is over already. Same thing I have done for about the past two months.
