Warren Nolan RPI Live 2025
Kind of crazy that our RPI is at 80 but that's because of the early season soft schedule, that will change quickly once SEC play kicks in full gear. Let's start our RPI movement upward tonight Tigers with another win!!

Early season RPI is always so funny to me.
7-9 Xavier is 1-7 against ranked teams, but because they've played 8 games against ranked teams, they are #2.
Tenn and Alabama fans used to love talking about noncon RPI, then proceed to go 10-20 in conference.

Got that mid-week-in-Omaha feeling already! Just stay on the winners side of the bracket baby!

how the heck is Tennessee that high up, they have a weaker schedule than us so far

Arizona and Ok State are probably floating them at this point.
They both have some meh loses but they also both beat A&M and Miss State

We have 1 really bad loss.
Bad losses count WAY MORE MORER than good wins in the RPI algo.

quote:Looking at the Warren Nolan data at the link above, Tennessee has a current SOS of 94 and LSU's SOS is at 266. And our loss to #86 RPI Omaha did not help. But we will have plenty of opportunities to improve our RPI very soon.

I think this is LSU's softest home schedule in a long while. Only teams they played w a pulse were at that weekend tourney in TX. Leaves me curious entering SEC schedule.
Did Jay purposefully go this weak given the SEC slate?
Wonder who was first team of the weekend that backed out?
We really didn't see any notable names come to the Box.

Jay, on numerous occasions said he had 2 stronger teams set to play us, but they backed out leaving us scrambling to find replacements. The replacements were obviously weak teams. It is what it is.

First I've heard of 2 teams. I only knew about the opening weekend series.

I don't think you can make that case when LSU has had weekend series vs OU (Omaha), North Dakota and North Alabama. None of these teams are exactly stemwinders

12 of their 17 games have been against currently ranked teams. They’ve played the toughest OOC schedule in D1 so not shocked their RPI is as high as it is.

North Alabama was also a last second replacement

A power 5 team was supposed to be on schedule this past weekend
and whoever was the opener was replaced by Purdue Fort Wayne instead

Is it true the last minute changes can only be made by teams with new HCs?
Because there are only like 4 P5 teams outside the SEC with new head coaches.
WVU
Washington
Ohio State
Minnesota
and last weekend Big 10 started conference play so that looked like WVU who chickened out. They played Kennesaw State though so idk how a change like that would work.
Opening weekend i suspect Washington. Minnesota played Houston, Ohio State played Arizona State.
Washington played in a small tournament in SC with Coustal Carolina, Kansas State and Saint Josephs. that would have been easiest to just add a team to.
