I love walking and golfing. I carried for years and now I mostly use a push cart.
But 18 and Santa Maria is a long arse walk.
I guess I’m getting old.

6 to 8 miles depending on how you hit it.

I walked Quail Hallow yesterday and woke up stiff as a board today

I walk 95% of rounds.

I sometimes get a cart for the back of it is brutally hot or if I’m playing with others who are riding.

I get stiff if I ride.

It also is not a long walk to my golf ball now so walking makes sense.

When it’s cart path only, I think the riders walk more than I do.

I walked 27 holes yesterday. It was a flat course, but I haven't walked 27 in years. . . if ever. I've been walking more frequently, but I enjoy walking rounds and riding rounds the same.

Dang, I don't even think Santa Maria is a very difficult course to walk. Beaver Creek has much more distance between green and the next tee box.

Just turned 68 and walk 99% of the time, though I don't play much at all when it gets above 90 (do not like to ride) and carry my clubs until it gets above 80 then use push cart. I feel it the next day but to me, that's the way to play golf. Played in UK/Ireland several times and hardly ever saw motorized carts (buggies) and frequently see guys in 70's and maybe 80's walking, some carrying, some with "trolleys" (push carts) and on hilly courses. I understand revenue from carts but I gladly trade all the frills and pristine conditioning for lower fees, reasonable conditioning, and encouragement by the course to walk. I realize I am a dinosaur nearing extinction.

Most courses in the UK require a medical excuse to rent a cart.

It is a walking game at its heart.

I walk 99% of my rounds. Only time I use a cart is when I'm playing in some scramble event or with my dad, who has had both knees replaced.

I used to carry but switched to a cart last year and carting is the only way to go. Carrying is hard on your back and the increased weight of carrying caused me to develop plantar fasciitis in my right foot. Switching to push cart and that all went away.

I notice when I walk 18 with a push cart that my pace of walking is very fast. Not sure why that is. Much faster pace than just walking for exercise. Used to happen when pushing a stroller too. My last 18 was 5 miles roughly.

I play better when I walk. I feel more focused, think about my next shot, and tend to get over bad shots quickly while staying positive about my next shot. Not simply bs-ing with other friends, playing & drinking when riding in the cart together.
