High school track runner gets attacked with a baton in the middle of a relay at the VSHL Class 3 State Indoor Championships.

Kaelen Tucker was on the second leg of the 4x200m relay at Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA, when she got smacked in the head.

Tucker suffered a concussion and a potential skull fracture.

"When we got to the curve she kept bumping me in my arm and when we got off the curve I finally passed her and that was when she hit me with the baton," Tucker said.

The girl's mother said neither the runner nor the coach apologized for the incident.

It's unclear if Trucker will file charges.

We're going to need common sense baton laws.

Just when I think that culture has bottomed out ... this happens.

You would think that the automatic thing that would occur is that she would be banned from competing in track anymore but that doesn’t really happen in most of these cases

This would have never happened if she had gotten her reparations like she deserved

Total lack of impulse control. Why no charge at the meet?

it would be a miracle if she was forced to sit out the rest of the reason. there will be minimal consequences.

They're aluminum but pretty sturdy. The edges are rounded over to double up the material to keep them from denting when dropped. She hit her pretty hard with the edge, which is the strongest part.

Maybe she called her name or something before the video was shot.

Anodized aluminum mostly. Light weight enough to be malleable if pushed hard enough but if you get whacked with one hard enough it’s gonna hurt like hell.

Is it really expected for someone to apologize for something that was intentional?

Because we have low expectations for a certain group of people. And they are well deserved in most cases.
