Hearing they are paused for 1 month because US automakers appealed to the Trump Admin for relief because of how integrated the supply chain is. So Trump granted a temporary delay.

What’s your understanding?

Wouldn’t the US already know this would hurt US automakers supply chain?

They’re going to fix all concerns in 1 month?

No, "He" doesnt know that American automakers use foreign components in their "made in the usa" vehicles.

Its obvious.

He’s intentionally tanking the economy so he can blame the left.

In the end, we're all gonna get to see and learn. I have almost never found myself disagreeing with Rand Paul and he seems to disagree with them. However, I love seeing our President wielding his powers to make changes happen with bs deals.

At the end of the day, nations will have to decide if they want war or not. Banks back who they think will be the winners.

But times have changed. NO citizenry of a "first world" country will be willing to deal with living back in the stone age. We are all spoiled with technology and conveniences. The most dependent societies will fall the hardest. Bankers may want more money and control, but there has to remain enough people. Those people must be willing, also, to work. An armed populace is hard to force into doing anything if they have nothing left. They will be the ones making demands, at first.

And here you go OP

quote:

WASHINGTON, March 5 (Reuters) - President Donald Trump agreed to delay tariffs for one month on some vehicles built in North America after a call with the CEOs of General Motors (GM.N), and Ford (F.N), and the chair of Stellantis, the White House said Wednesday.

The automakers had urged Trump to waive 25% tariffs on Mexico and Canada on vehicles that comply with the 2020 U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement's rules of origin. The move will benefit U.S. automakers and other foreign automakers that are in compliance.

Why would I be?

It destroys innovation and hurts consumers.

I like people smart enough to make proper choices without Govt intervention.

It doesn't occur to leftists that Trump might be graciously giving Canada time to realize how royally screwed they are by a trade war with the US. In a month, they could look at several of the tariffs they impose on American goods coming into their country, revise them, and see if the fent and immigration issues suddenly improve.

Well I would think your response would be, this is great, I hate tariffs.

But instead, you get mad at Trump for not implementing the tariff.

Very strange.

I think the tariffs are a bad idea, so I’m glad.

But reversing course within a day looks weak.

What do you make of Trump claiming that Trudeau is using the trade war to stay in power?

It’s a dumb attempt at deflection. Trump literally just started the trade war. If you don’t start the trade war, Trudeau can’t use it to stay in power while he’s on his way out.

It's about fairness where Canada, Mexico and China charge and average >13% tariffs on American products while tariffs on their products are rock bottom.

Also some of those manufacturers are hatching plans to re-open in America.

Stock market up nicely today. Up a bit over 1%. Not a complete recovery, but start.

Most probably because of the delay in the tariffs, but even without the announcement, I would have predicted a recovery today.
