Plus hand protectors. Forearm protectors. Finger protectors. Instep protectors. Sports have become so pussified in general.

Your favorite players were wearing the same shite in the 80’s and 90’s.

I played catcher growing up and thank God for the mask, chest protector, shin guards and the cup. But if you feel the game should be played without these modern-day protective devices, let's see if you are brave enough to get back there and catch without a mask and a cup.

You ever been hit by a 92 mph fastball? That shite hurts, not to mention it could end your season.

Calm down big boy

Not when you’ve had your ankle stepped on.

I LOL’d at Curiel trying to tuck in his shirt with the oven mitts.

If it saves an injury, fine… but it looks funny no matter what

Mainly griping about the green base. Rest of post just filler. My nephew got clocked in the jaw by a Sonny Gray fastball in high school. Broke his jaw. Never played again.

I’m very much in favor of it. It eliminates the ump claiming baserunner was too close to the line bullshite.

The mitts and protectors, I really DGAF either way. But that deserves a separate discussion, and it shouldn’t be lumped together with green bases

This might be the dumbest statement about safety equipment I’ve ever read. Catchers gear and the stuff the OP posted are even in the same stratosphere of anywhere close to being the same thing.

Says the guy who never had his ring finger dislocated and middle finger broken in three places, thus ending his pitching career like me. Also had my elbow fractured by a fastball now that I think about it.

Why? It serves multiple purposes with zero downside.

Dang it, man that’s terrible. Saw Clay Parker hit a kid in the jaw one time with the same result. Scared the hell out of me. I was standing in the on deck circle.

Worst at bat of my life.
