Def Leppard – Pyromania

Record for most weeks at #2 without ever reaching #1, because of:

(Which was technically released in late 1982, but dominated radio in '83 with all seven singles released in 1983 and all reaching the Top 10.)

It was a very eclectic and interesting time with pop, rock (even heavier fare), R&B, country, funk, etc., all sharing time at the top of the charts, MTV, etc.

Other than a few artists I don't know and the fact that Culture Club sucks, that's a really good list.

exactly.

Any other "best year" list is because whatever the prevailing genre was; stadium Rock, grunge, hip hop.. Had some heavy hitter releases.

83 was all over the damn place and it was glorious.

It’s a lot. However only a few are their best work from what I see.

its the list that keeps going.

you can jump in anywhere in that list and there's no noticeable drop off in quality.

It's either them or the Pointer Sisters that seals the deal.

While I love every band you posted, there was a definite vibe everything was settling into.

In 83 the creativity was all over the board (see my list) and across all genres
