DataRepublican, “I’ve had change of heart on federal income tax.”

I’ve argued the income tax is the most insidious tax of all and DataRepublican has discovered the corrupt nature of income tax too:

I've had a change of heart on federal income tax. On the surface, it's just a way for the government to generate revenue—it has to get its funding from somewhere. But I now see that the method of taxation itself fundamentally alters the relationship between the government and its people.
When the government relies on taxing individual income, it shifts from serving its citizens to exploiting them as a revenue source. This dynamic creates an inherent friction, where the government no longer answers to the people but to the system that extracts from them. And if you look around, it's clear—whatever our tax dollars are funding, it’s not serving us.
This is what modern economists fail to grasp when they dismiss tariffs, sales taxes, or luxury taxes as harmful. The structure of taxation matters, not just the amount collected. The income tax distorts governance itself—and it needs to go.

Same thing with property tax. The government has set up a scenario where the citizen doesn’t ever actually own their home, they are only leasing it from the government.

Yup. Property tax grinds my gears

Exactly. Why am I paying to own something?

Right. You pay every year on something you own, under the guise of your parish needs money for services. Yet they always ask for more money but services never go up. At some point, if you own the home for the term or longer, you’ll pay more in taxes than the value of the home. It is theft!!!!

You never actually own it as long as the government can take it from you if you don't pay some periodic tax on it.

How about Social Security taxes. It's a damn joke
1. Have a big chunk of your paycheck swiped away all your working life.
2. Get a shitty ROI for this compulsory retirement contribution.
3. Get TAXED on your paltry disbursements once you do finally retire.

Once Obama weaponized the IRS it should have been over but too many were comfortable to care or to afraid to have the IRS turn on them.
Frankly, because of the unfairness and weaponization of the tax code it is likely unconstitutional.

Because those taxes pay for roads, schools, police and fire departments, parks, etc.,

Amen.
The income tax is a bad and inefficient system. At this point is main use is social engineering. There are better ways to raise revenue that doesn't directly torture citizens every April.

All taxes suck. Income taxes are the worse.

Especially if you send your kids to a private school

I'm going to say next to worst.
Property taxes are the bottom. If you lose your job or become disabled and have no income, at least you have no tax. Property taxes don't stop, even if can't work.

If the government takes it from me with no option to to spend it myself, then when it returns it to me, the Government should thank me for using my money by not threatening to seize my property, fine, arrest and imprison me if I don't send them 35% of it back.

I got ripped to shite in another thread when I stated that roughly 40% of my income goes to some form of a tax.
Sit down, think about it, and do the damn math.
After income tax, property tax, state/fed, sales, streaming tax, whatever the frick tax, etc, that shite adds up quick.
Seriously, look at anything you buy outside of the store. Gas, you pay a lot of tax on each gallon. Look at your bills. Any taxes the electric company pays they pass onto you and list it in your bill.

Property taxes have soared and yet most places have third world level roads. Wouldn't need as many police if they would actually enforce laws to keep criminals in check. No pedo, rapist, murderer should be drawing breath. It's not hard to have a civil society but it can only happen if we determine to punish evil.

That’s not far off at all…don’t know why you get ripped on that.
Unless it’s from low income earners that don’t own anything. After taxes, benefits and retirement/HSA funding I bring home about half of what I make and that doesn’t count property taxes, sales taxes, gas taxes, etc.

We have two prominent shitposters on this board that would rather keep the status quo than ever consider tariffs or consumption tax as an exchange for income tax
