Looking to go during the summer but would like to take the risk of hurricanes out of the equation. Looks like the best options are Costa Rica or ABC islands. Any suggestions?

CR and ABC are generally your best bets during hurricane season from my understanding. The ABCs rarely get hits but they do on occasion, though.

You can never reduce risk to zero. Even if you booked on the west coast of Costa Rica, these places aren't all that wide, and what hits the east will hit the west.

Go down to Grenada, it’s pretty much out of hurricane path (only 4 have ever hit there) and a beautiful country.

I've been to the Caribbean in every hurricane month but September. We had to deal with a tropical storm once. Other than that we had beautiful weather every time. Yes, it's rolling the dice a bit.

Hurricane season brings a triple threat you may not have to deal with as much in November - April: hurricanes and tropical storms, more rain in general, and it’s also a good bit hotter (and more humid).

Costs Rica certainly gets storms. I’d go further south. In Aug - Oct I would lean toward ABC islands or Barbados. Maybe Panama. Northern coast of Colombia is amazing too, think Cartagena or Barranquilla.

I lived on St Croix one year and it was crazy to see the off season (which is basically June - mid November. Covid kinda changed that and people have been going nonstop all year around the past 2-3 years.

Booking a week long trip to Grand Cayman late June 2017 and getting hit by a tropical storm that brought rain almost all day for 4 of our 6 days there was honestly pretty aggravating with all the money spent.

Our last 2 trips to St. John have been in mid to late July. Get trip insurance and cross your fingers.
