Berkeley is a ghost town. Gee, I wonder why.

Leftist cities dying and regressing over and over and over. The Left is the definition of insanity. Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.

I spent a lot of time in Berkeley when I lived about three miles from campus in Oakland. I would like to see a video on the Telegraph Ave commercial district which extends to right across the street from UC. I’m guessing various establishments on Telegraph are doing just fine.

Berkeley was the center of The Free Speech Movement in 1964. It started a trend of colleges all over America forming free speech areas on campus grounds. I saw them here in Louisiana colleges. Rules were simple: Anyone could find an open spot of lawn and start talking. If students wanted to stop and listen, fine. Ironic that the left is the opposite today with censorship of any wrong opinions.

Crazy that entire blocks of shops like that are boarded up unless the property has been sold and new development is incoming? Especially near a major university.

Liberalism is anti human and inherently destructive. It’s entropy as a political force.

High housing costs + large drug-addicted homeless population + restrictive zoning laws which prevent new housing construction + strong community activism.
Ahh, the liberal utopia.

Yes, there used to be a circle there in cement designated as the free speech spot. Not sure if there anymore.
Ironically enough the person that showed me where it was said they had heard David Duke speak there

Berkeley is the progressive dream.
Austin wants to be Berkeley.
Fayetteville, AR wants to be Austin.
Mental illness is destroying what we’re once great cities.

I was in the Bay Area this week. Oakland is worse than I ever could’ve imagined. There are overpasses that are completely shutdown with people living on them in derelict vehicles. Abandoned buildings everywhere. The litter looks like what you see in videos from India. I went to a taqueria that was on the Michelin guide (which was amazing btw) and got yelled at by a homeless drug addict on the way. Thought for sure my rental car was getting broken into while I was in there.
How can Newsome, the Democrat Jesus, Gavin with the good hair, sleep at night knowing this place is just a few miles from Sacramento and not even try to do anything about it?

The radicalism at UC Berkeley goes back to 1934 when the UC students demonstrated their support for a San Francisco general strike organized by ILWU president Harry Bridges. There were also protests in the 1950s against loyalty oaths.

Pump the brakes. How did we go from Berkeley to Arkansas in 2 moves?

This is precisely the problem for the Left. Totally clueless and deranged.

And if we carry this analogy forward, to counter increasing entropy you need energy. Law enforcement is analogous to energy in this situation. Apparently Berkeley lacks law enforcement.
What a shithole.

Well. As long as some establishments are doing just fine, everything is fine and dandy. Great post.

Lost the Raiders, lost the A’s and city in utter ruin.
Wake up NOLA or Saints/Pels move after Gayle passes.

Cali is a top 10 economy in the WORLD.....and cannot see the light!
A GDP of 4 trillion bucks....it is still a social shithole!

Curious how much of this video you watched. Initially, I just watched one segment where a block or so of stores had closed. Maybe a dozen? But the video goes on and on. These are not dilapidated old buildings but properties that the landlords clearly hope to lease out again. Virtually all of those on the video have nicely boarded up windows, free of graffiti, and some have relatively new fencing around them as well. They are well-kept and have been emptied, not abandoned.

I started a thread about 2 weeks ago that sank faster than the Titanic, but I was basically making this same observation. In my opinion, the Left has transitioned from PROTESTING THE MAN to PROTECTING THE MAN. The Left was correct to protest the MIC-induced Vietnam War, Cal-Berkely was correct to march in FAVOR of Free Speech in the 1960's, and the Left correctly protested the invasion of Iraq by war criminals George W. Bush and Dick Cheney (Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11).
But fast-forward to the past decade or so, and it's the Left who champion the Establishment. People like the Clinton family cabal, Pelosi, Schiff, Schumer, etc. Hell, most of them were ecstatic when Dick and Liz Cheney endorsed Kamala. Apparently, they never stopped to question the irony of that.
It's also the Left who support Big Pharma, Ukraine, the corporate media, and Globalist institutions like the EU, WHO, WEF, etc. The ONE THING that was a redeeming quality of the Left, PROTESTING THE MAN, has been exchanged for PROTECTING THE MAN. (They would mention their opposition to Trump, but Trump is fighting the man. They're just too stupid to see it).
Talk about a 180.
