For those that don’t know Tom Henderson and insider gaming are by far away the best reporting on anything regarding ubi. Their sources are rock solid and they don’t miss. Full article above but I’m interested in the preorder numbers, quoting below
quote: At the time of writing, Shadows currently has around 300,000 pre-orders, said sources and Odyssey’s day one player numbers were between 400-450,000; a gap of around 100-150,000 that needs to be made up in the next four weeks
quote: Looking at the data, if Shadows continues the same trajectory as Odyssey throughout launch, it’s estimated that the game could sell approximately 3.5 million units in its first month. Valhalla, which was the series’ most successful Assassin’s Creed game had some eight million players in its first month
Yeah I don’t think this enough, anywhere close to enough actually to save Ubisoft. They’re cooked baws
Because numbers are numbers. It’s true that context explains the widening massive gap somewhat due to it being a ps4 title as well, I just don’t see how that matters practically for the point of the thread. Which is if these are accurate, and again insider gaming isn’t really ever wrong about Ubisoft and they mostly only write about Ubisoft, I think they’re fricked.
they will probably go bankrupt. they deserve it but man they put out so many games it will create a void in the gaming world. my favorite releases from them the past couple years were Rainbow 6 Siege (old now), Anno 1800, Watch Dogs: Legion, and Trackmania.
i guess it's more likely they'll sell for pennies on the dollar to microsoft
Most of what I've read say the preorder numbers are quite good. Matching Odysseys final numbers with still a month to go, doubling Star Wars as the article also says. I was surprised the numbers were so high when I read this article a week ago.

It won’t be made up. This game has been delayed so many times, everyone who was going to pre-order by now would have and there’s no hype/momentum
It’s not going to be a Concord but it’s not going to save them. Too many people have formed opinions at this point, the only way they can be overcome is if the game turns out to be a classic. That’s not going to happen
You think Ubisoft last two years? I honestly don’t. The company is treading a net worth total of around a billion and many people who know more about this than me have made the claim at this point their IPs are more valuable than the actual company. I’ve also seen estimates this game will need 10 million in sales to keep them afloat. I don’t know if that’s true but I don’t think they will get anywhere near it. For single player games the first 1-3 months is everything bar the rare title like Witcher 3. It won’t be a Veilguard level disaster but I’d say 3.5-5 million sounds about right. Which unfortunately, if you want to save UBI, just will not be enough
I am really happy for you. I dont think ive enjoyed a Ubisoft game in a very long time. They definitely have some killer IPs though. Enjoy them while they last because its last call for that company. I hope whomever gets their IPs actually puts them to use and does a good job. It will likely be tencent so putting them to use will likely happen. Who knows about the quality.
I just found it all confusing. It jumps around between preorders, first day, first month and seems to use the terms interchangeably while comparing three different games.
Ubisoft is notorious for 50-70% off sales within the first weeks of release, sponsor codes and the subscription service.
The final numbers will be whatever Ubisoft wants to claim. Given how much they started leaning on paid influencers leading up to the Star Wars game, I suspect you’ll start seeing an increasing number of articles declaring “Ubisoft is back!” in the coming weeks.
