the Navy said the commander of USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN-69) Capt. Christopher “Chowdah” Hill will command Truman in the interim

With an official nickname of Chowdah, the new guy may not work out.

If it's one person that will pull TRUMAN out of the ruts and get them back on track, it's CAPT Hill. Dude loves the Navy and pisses excellence. Good move

Looks like a solid choice.

i dont know any specifics about this case, and i agree that he needed to be fired, but there's a very good chance that the cause of this was incompetent younger officers

I can see how a guy from Massachusetts can be bestowed the nickname “chowdah” in the military.

Navy pilots get assigned their callsigns and there's usually a backstory. Guy probably loves chowdah.

That skipper gets relieved and yet there are no moves in Army aviation after the collision? WTF is going on?

I see he has Expert Rifleman and Expert Pistol ribbons, like every other officer above Lieutenant.
I was in the Navy,I’ll never believe all these officers are truly experts at small arms.
Their targets are never even scored, just shoot the allotted rounds and they automatically score Expert.

But it looks impressive that everyone of them wear more ribbons than Eisenhower,Patton,Bradley,Nimitz and Halsey combined.

Yeah, let's lean away from the Yanks from now on. I suppose "in the interim" will be fine until we can find a good Southern or Midwestern baw to permanently fill the position.

The pilot in command of the helicopter paid the ultimate price for the accident.
