Robbing a bank

So I knew someone that recently attempted to rob a bank (he’s no friend, just someone that ate and a restaurant I frequented). It got me thinking, how many robberies have actually been successful? With all the cameras and phones it seems dumb on all levels.

It’s actually surprising how many do get away with it. A decent number get away and aren’t solved.

Would have thought it would have had a higher “catch” rate. 15 years in fed pen?? Juice ain’t worth the squeeze

I taught a kid who robbed a bank as like a 20 year old and turned himself in years later because he felt bad

My high school biology teacher robbed a bank. On a bicycle. Wearing a motorcycle helmet.
You may find this hard to believe, but that guy was an idiot.

I worked in banking like 30 years ago.
The saying was it's much easier to rob a bank with a pen than a gun.
The amount banks lose on fraud is staggering.

When I worked at a bank, some guy tried to rob the armored truck guy bringing cash into the branch.
Truck driver walks into the bank with the bags of money.
Robber walks in behind him and pulls a gun
Teller sees the gun and screams
Truck driver pulls his gun, turns around, and shoots the robber three times center mass.
The robber falls, but keeps on trying to get up.
Armored truck driver puts a couple of more slugs into him for good measure.
Robber bleeds out and dies on the bank branch floor.

Most ingenious bank robbery I've ever heard of was about 35 years ago. South Georgia. Opening day of deer season. Guy walked in dressed in camo. Fled in an old pickup truck. Half the population fit his description that day. They never caught him.

I love stories with happy endings

He both ate and was a restaurant himself? That’s pretty cool. Was he full of fleas or ticks or something? How did you frequent him as a restaurant? Blowjobs?

Was talking with the bank manager of a major bank here and I asked why they closed down all of the drive thru lanes. He said 90% of their fraud came from the drive thrus.

A dude I somewhat knew in college robbed a bank wearing an old man mask. He and the dude with him both ended up getting caught. I think he served 5-6 years in fed prison, but he’s out now.

The company i work for hired a new controller over in the houston area. one of the finance girls recognized him and did a google search on him. Turns out he was arrested for bank robbery a few months prior to applying and my company didn't do a proper background check. So he wasn't very good at bank robbery and we aren't very good with background checks
