Something was said by someone about being better than the other. Then a third party was brought in that featured on both then went team Drake then apologized and backed out. (J Cole) Leaving it Drake vs Kendrick. They then made targeted raps any each other. With Rick Ross, a former prison guard, jumping in and calling Drake a White Boy who fixed his nose to look less black.
Kendrick won 5 grammys for his diss album and it plays non stop on radio. Drake still has more streams and sales though.
Like most rap beefs is mainly to sell records.

My 22 year old daughter explained it all this weekend. It isn’t worth the time to explain. The “song of the year” wasn’t very good. But if I understood why the song blew up, my kids would probably be embarrassed.
