There should be no 'considering' considered.

Change them all back... I read news stories and have no clue what fort/base they're talking about. Nothing necessarily wrong with the new names in and of themselves, but it creates confusion and interrupts the chain of memory of these places.

"Well, somebody sent them."

They should be doing this for all the army bases. However, I think we all saw this coming when Hegseth referred to it as "Bragg" and not "Liberty" after being confirmed as SECDEF.

Let's name it after somebody who didn't suck.

Somebody had to have a real hard-on for Confederate generals to name it after Bragg in the first place.

quote:

Bragg is generally considered among the worst generals of the Civil War.[1] Most of the battles he engaged in ended in defeat. Bragg was extremely unpopular with both the officers and ordinary men under his command, who criticized him for numerous perceived faults, including poor battlefield strategy, a quick temper, and overzealous discipline.[1] Bragg has a generally poor reputation with historians,[1] though some point towards the failures of Bragg's subordinates, especially Major General and former Bishop Leonidas Polk—a close ally of Davis and known enemy of Bragg—as more significant factors in the many Confederate defeats under Bragg's command. The losses suffered by Bragg's forces are cited as highly consequential to the ultimate defeat of the Confederate States of America.[1]

Need to change Fort Moore back to Fort Benning while they're at it.

It's not about Bragg. It's about all the men (and women) who have come through there.

The name Ft.Bragg doesn’t “belong” to some confederate general, it belongs to every soldier that was ever stationed there, jumped there, trained there, deployed from there, etc.

I was stationed at Ft.Bragg. It will always be Ft. Bragg, regardless of what anyone else says.

They need to change Ft. Polk back as well. Everybody still calls it Ft. Polk so it’s all a waste.

The whole name change thing was a huge waste of money to begin with for virtue signaling. Got a cousin who works as a gov't contractor at Benning and he said they had to change all labeling on every piece of electrical gear (lighting panels, switch gear, transformers, etc...). Said it took them like 6mo to complete

I appreciate that you hate us

With that said, it was a northern branding effort. Southerners were very reluctant to serve in the US Army.
