I met some Ukrainian refugees who are in their 20s. I told them that their gold medal winning figure skater, Oksana Baiul, lives in Shreveport. They had no idea who she was. I was far more excited about it than them.

Shreveport was well on its way to become the next Jackson but the decline seems to have slowed down recently. Hope it can come back some.

Valerie Bertinelli grew up in Shreveport. Her brother Pat was good friends with some guys that I went to high school with. A couple of them carried a drunken Eddie Van Halen from his car to her apartment one weekend and were considered legends the next week at school.
