A Christmas Miracle the other day at Popeyes on Choctaw/North 38th..

It’s 1:21pm and I entered the drive thru line behind 4 other cars. When I pulled up to the screen, an employee immediately greeted me; I did not have to wait 5 minutes to be recognized. I was on my way with an accurate order in hand at 1:26pm; not the usual 20+ minutes.

They consistently provide great customer service at that location. I am not sure why the employees there are such an outlier, but I would bet it’s the best location in the state.

One of the most cold hearted murders I ever responded to happened at that location.
Ex employee hid in the bathroom one Sunday night and waited for the business to close before he stabbed and shot the manager in order to steal the weekends cash deposit.
A passerby witnessed the crime and called us while it was occurring.
We caught the suspect as he was attempting to exit the business with the money in his pockets and the murder weapons in his waist band.
I remember telling the suspect his life was now over. He was later convicted and sentenced as such.
I never went back to that location to eat again. The manager was a great guy just trying to make an honest living for his family.
I was young, this had to be around 2006 or so.
I digress.

Being that it was at that specific Choctaw and 38th, did it feel like you were wear your north face clothing and had gone adventuring?
Because you may have barely escaped with your life

Did they bring back Onion Rings, Livers, Corn on the Cob or Apple Pies ?
That would be a Christmas miracle.

There is no way they said "Hi. May I take your order?" Its usually "can I take your order" "what you want?" "my I help you" in the most unenthused tone.

I've been blessed. My Popeye's opened a few years ago and the service has been fine. I order through the app and pickup through the drive thru most times. This is the Willowbrook/Champions area in Houston. No real compaints.

I bet you’re fun at parties. Turning a lighthearted thread into something depressing.
Jk - I’m sorry you had to experience that. I’m sure it’s just “part of the job”, but I imagine it takes a toll.

A Christmas miracle would be getting onion rings from Popeyes.
