i'm a little confused. i thought rep-Massie was introducing a bill to get it removed? can DOGE eliminate almost all gov't agencies by itself?
which ones require congressional and/or executive action for termination?

It needs to be burnt down especially when it got 4% of the federal budget for doing nothing.
My concern is ensuring the states use the money towards the students to ensure the students can perform and get the help they need. I just know places like Louisiana where people just line their pockets and move on exist. You wouldn't necessarily need all of that 4% to go to the states as well.

It was created by Congress. It should probably be ended by Congress.

Congress was created by us. It, in its current form, is being ended by us!

Covid exposed these evil fricks when moms were not busy at work and watched what the teachers were teaching, or lack thereof

All congressional appropriations bills have waste fraud and abuse clauses in them. This gives the executive a lot of leeway.

No but OBM can make them impotent

I agree. It doesn’t mean however that Trump can’t hit it with a jackhammer during the meantime. But to make it last Congress needs to kill the Department of Ed.

Hopefully this includes the building itself, it’s an ugly building.

I'm all for both. They're not mutually exclusive.
Massie's bill wouldn't kick in until Dec 31, 2026, anyway. To believe that extraordinary shenanigans wouldn't be employed in the interim to use any avenue they can to continue to launder their dwindling supply of money would be short-sighted.

From my understanding, DOGE has no real legislative powers and is only an advisory panel that points out government waste. Then it will be up to Congress to make the appropriate changes or cuts based on their recommendations.
I could be wrong?

Dept of Ed could be eliminated entirely and no one would ever notice. fricking get rid of it.

quote:Fine. Congress can remove the debris left burning. But don't wait to long, Congress could be found in contempt and violating the clean air act if they don't dispose of DOE remains quickly.

How is it DOGE claims to have saved 48 billion already? Is that money they say can be cut or has Trump issued some order cutting it?

I don’t know. Hopefully someone with more knowledge of DOGE can help both of us better understand it.
