Just doing some reading today and discovered a similarity with the book of Nehemiah and our current political climate. Not sure how many people this will interest, but why not?

Nehemiah was tasked with building a wall around Jerusalem when the Jews were allowed to return to Jerusalem after the Babylonian captivity.

Nehemiah was given special permission by the Persian king to rebuild Jerusalem.

He faced immense pressure from the surrounding kingdoms not to rebuild the wall, for the leaders didn’t want a revitalized Jerusalem to exist since it would threaten their power they gained in the decades the Jews were deported from the Promised Land.

The leaders made up rumors about him, threatened him, and even tried to ambush him, but he remained steadfast in his work to rebuild the wall.

It seems similar to the things we see with the change Trump is implementing. The political class that has exploited this country for years are resisting the will of the people to better our country. They don’t want the US to prosper and are willing to fight as much as possible to prevent the changes from taking place.

In the end, the wall was rebuilt and Jerusalem prospered, bringing in the times of Christ.

Will we see a similar time of prosperity?

That’s pretty good. Drawing Biblical parallels to modern times is difficult. I need to go back and read Nehemiah, I haven’t in years.

Nah.

That was then.

This is now.

Not related. Though it's a nice fantasy

I do consider the Holy Bible to be an outstanding history book as well. It offers mankind a glimpse of what happens when mankind acts in particular ways.

Now imagine Eve had been a Steve. We wouldn't be here.

For it being partially historically accurate, I agree.

In other words, history is irrelevant. No need to look at anything that happened in the past because that was then, and this is now.

I suspect that your real reason for having that position is because this came from the Bible.

Nehemiah is one my favorite books. I read it when I need a reminder that getting things done is not just about big ideas. Sometimes, it’s all about making the donuts.

The last line in Chapter 1 gets me every time: “I was cupbeaerer to the king.”

This was a man that had an important, trusted, and prestigious job as a right hand man to a king.

He asked permission to walk away from it and go build a wall far away, under constant threat from the local PTB.

He wrote down everything they did, down to who did what.

It’s got tremendous lessons for leadership in a very practical sense.

Is this story before or after god commands his followers to commit genocide and rape?

Sorry you're missing out, there is great wisdom even in fairy tales, if you care to find it.
