DOGE cancels remote access for Sr officials so they have to come to the office

They were supposed to be back at the office already to get their new key cards and prep for the return of all personnel over the next few weeks but it seems they chose to "resist"
Guess that isn't working out how they had planned. No more making decisions that affect millions of American's lives while sitting on their couch.
I wont be upset if we lose most of them along the way

This is well played. Force them off their asses to come in, and go direct to HR, where they will be given an opportunity to better understand the new rules in-place.

Trying to determine my level of outrage at this situation being allowed, apparently, across all government agencies. Those of us who work for a living, paying their salaries, have beef.

My wife’s uncle works for the USDA. He’s been WFH since covid. I asked him last week if they were returning to office. He said no. It’s management’s discretion and no one from his department is going back into the office at all.

These people have been pampered for so long, they really didn’t believe that this would happen.

These are the ones to run off and make miserable.

“Management’s discretion” to subvert the president’s direct order?
Bold move. I bet it’s not going to work out for them the way they think it will.

Exemptions at management discretion are in the EO.
But, abuse of discretion is obviously a remedy for facial subversion/noncompliance.

Let us know if Trump caves. I’m interested in how this will work out for these Humble servants.

I'm a believer in hybrid/remote work being totally fine for many office jobs. However, I'm software and this field has invested a lot of effort in project management maturation. I was able to sniff out that a remote contractor was probably not working in less than 2 weeks because he didn't submit a single task for peer review that he was assigned in our standard 2 week iteration (sprint). Remote workers can be held accountable but you've got to have systems of accountability. Some work is not as conducive to that as others.
With that said, if my employer says everyone is in the office for 5 days a week then that's just how it is going to be. The employer and employees will have to deal with the consequences. Better hope your good employees with desirable skills can't find new remote work jobs. This is partly why I prefer hybrid to full remote. Never establish the implied expectation that your employer won't call you into the office.

The hybrid work and remote model work differently in every industry but what the private sector faces is different than the gov. These gov employees are entitled shits and most wouldn’t make it in the private sector, the ones that would might disagree with an order but they are not going to resist and play frick around and find out.
Private sector there is probably a greater chance top talent would leave if a 5 day in office came up. Of course some older top talent wouldn’t, so the younger management level is where you would see a hit. You still wouldn’t see good employees screaming resist and acting immature about an order. They would just move on.
We work hybrid in my field in tax as 3 days in 2 home, but I can go 3-2 or 4-1 if I wanted and needed to based on what projects are going.
All of our people have that option if they communicate why they need to shift a schedule for the week.

Remote workers can absolutely be held accountable. The problem is you have people in management that have no business being in that role. That ineffective management doesn't give a shite because they are also WFH and most of them were doing the same thing their employees were.

This is fantastic. A lot of people are realizing that being part of the “resistance” might actually cost them their career.
It’s also embarrassing how much Biden fricked up our government in 4 fricking years.
