It's like Trump read the book

"The Myth of Capitalism' was written in 2018. The chapter on govt regulation explains what Trump is doing now. We all think that corporations hate govt restrictions. It is the opposite. Corporations love the difficulty and expense of govt regulations and bureaucracy. Why? Because it prevents new companies from competing with them with a better product at a lower price. It assures that they keep semi-monopolies (2 or 3 corporations raise prices and reduce wages in tandem). Why aren't they hit with anti-trust violations? Because they donate way more money to politicians than any new rivals.
So, in the long run every time Trump reduces federal power over businesses it will create competitors who can lower prices and salaries will go up due to competition.

So why are there so many corporate lobbyists in DC?

To continue to buy off politicians and keep the gravy train rolling.
Trump will limit their ability to influence if regulations are relaxed and competition heats up in the market.

All part of building an economic moat

Been saying it for years: Regulations stifle competition and production.

Lobbyists exist because corporations use them to buy off politicians (Congress) in order to relax federal regulations.
Relaxed regulations is the result of the influence.

Because only the politicians can ban it and all of them are getting the money.
ALSO....A huge percentage of people on the staffs of the different govt agencies just happened to be former employees of major corporations. What a coincidence.

That is the term in the book.

This doesn’t correlate to corporations loving regulations.
It correlates to Govt. removing regulations.

It’s funny how your average Dems acts like they hate corporations but they absolutely support them without knowing.
More regulations & higher minimum wage for example only help big businesses. It will kill off small businesses

Famously, Facebook reps testified a few years back, subsequent to the 2020 steal, FB wanted to be regulated.

This makes zero sense. We all know that huge corporations have way more sway on policy than any of us plebes do. So, if these companies don't like regulations, then how is it possible that the federal register grows by leaps and bounds every single year?
If your views were true, then we should be living in Galt's Gulch by now.

Trump needs to be very careful with the Silicon Valley/Big Tech political shape shifters, they were instrumental in assisting the D.C. Uniparty and their Bureaucratic State partners to install the illegitimate regime in 2020......now they're all shocked Trump is back so they are bending the knee and kissing the ring in order to preserve the wealth and power.

No. It means Acme corporation has an influential guy in govt power. The way Acme does this is contracts. If executive John leaves the company he gets 'goodbye'. If executive John leaves the company to work for the federal govt he gets 'a huge bonus check to show our appreciation.'

I’m a small company. Used to work for a large company. Large companies love regulations. It makes the cost of entry almost impossible in many industries. Common sense regulations are needed. Regulations to limit competition should be looked at very closely. The EPA is the best tool a lot of large companies have to limit competition.

More regulations increases the cost of starting up a new business.
The more regulations you have to get through the more government has a chance to control you and your business. Then the more control politicians have over who owns and can start up a business. Dems love regulations. It’s all about control.
Also, it’s a lot easier to control a few large corporations than thousands of one owner mom and pop businesses.
Then, Dems can force Social/Environmental scoring on the corporations that want to borrow capital to expand their business. This has been going on for a while.
Covid eliminated a lot of small businesses also.

Some corps absolutely do love some regulations. If it impedes barrier to entry for their potential competitors why wouldn't they?

Sure. Certain regulations that impede competition are advocated for. I get that.
My point was the majority of regulations (reporting, environmental, safety, etc.) are those that curtail activities that corporations may not want curtailed because they hurt the bottom line. That’s why they have lobbyists to pay congressman not to vote for those regulations.
