According to Fox News

41 sets of remains collected

28 have been identified

18 notifications to next of kin

The Army identifying two of the three soldiers killed in the helicopter crash.

(With names and pictures, even though only one of whom remains have been recovered)

"The name of the third soldier is being withheld at the request of the family"

So the family of the female pilot objects to her name being mentioned.

On what grounds? Are they trying to convince the public it was her fault? Why's it that others are identified, one without remains, but her identity hidden by family request?

I'm going to venture that the family has been accorded some very poor and devious advice, for nefarious reasons, by despicable operators.

Or stated another way, it is a matter of great public importance. Said helicopter was flown right into a plane carrying 60+ souls.

You're gonna need to spell this out, I really don't track where you're going with this.

I'd assume they are shielding themselves from the shiteshow this is building into... I don't agree they should be afforded that right, but I would think if that were my daughter I would want a grace period too.

As I mentioned in another thread, social media will do it's work on this and it'll be leaked

I realize this is a completely irrational thought process, but if this were my child, I wouldn't want her name mentioned for at least 2 reasons.

1) I would continue to hope that she is found and alive, even if the odds are better to win the lottery 34 straight times. I can't even imagine losing a child, but not knowing for certain if my child is alive or dead is infinitely worse imo.

2) I wouldn't want to deal with the media right now. Once the name is announced, it's going to be an absolute horror show for them for a long period of time.

As to the person above who said the taxpayers deserve to know.. I'm not sure I agree with that, so why do you feel that way? What difference does it make at the end of the day if the pilot is Jane Doe, John Doe or someone else. If you are asking so you can scrutinize this person from head to toe and point out all of their flaws.. what's the purpose for the public to know that info right now. It's going to come out sooner than later..

The families effected 100% deserve to know, and imo, they probably do know..

If it were mine, I would know I raised her right, and that she died in a tragic accident, I'd be getting her name out in the open and talking about how much she loved this country.

I would NOT let people be thinking she killed 60+ people on purpose, or that she was anything other than doing her best.

You have a good point, I honestly didn't think of it like that.

Because it is all our right to know. Because it feels like if this were any other non marginalized pilot we WOULD know. Because the effects are more far reaching than those who lost loved ones in this incident.

We raise our kids right, we can be proud of them in life and death.

We trust them that they did the right thing to the best of their ability, and if they failed it was not through lack of effort.

Of course. Because it could NEVER be as simple as the family not wanting their dead daughter’s name plastered in the media for accidentally killing 65 people.

It MUST be a sinister conspiracy

Well, let's see... was it the family or the taxpayer funding this flight?

Taxpayer? Yes, then the taxpayer interest overrides. This ain't the Biden administration anymore and people expect answers and transparency.

Fair enough. I also saw someone else say that they were flying a helicopter funded by tax dollars.. that part makes sense to me.

Either way, without a body, I'm guessing the Army can't release the name without the parents approval. It will get leaked if that is the case.
