I'll outline my just current trip

* Pull into HEB. There are 4, stock 18 wheelers parked on the side, so that 2 lane entrance/exit into HEB, now becomes 1 lane open, so cars trying to exit parking lot and cars trying to enter are clustered as to who should go through that 1 open lane

* Finally make it into the store, right when I enter, some person moving 0.1 mph crosses the entrance basically cutting me off from entering, they stop and casually look around, and talk to a friend, have to wait 30 seconds for them to cross as I can't get around

* Large portion of store tarped off, to get around it, you have about a 4-5 ft wide aisle to work through. An elderly man in a electric wheelchair/shopping cart is in front of me. He moves 2 ft forward, then stops a few seconds, moves 2 ft forward, then stops a few seconds, repeat about 4 times. I have no option but to wait behind this as I have to get to seafood portion. Takes me 1-2 minutes to get past this 10 ft long, 4 ft wide aisle.

* Multiple people with no care in the world ramming into you amongst the store. Everyone thinking they have right of way. People not abiding by always travel in right lane as if this was traffic. It has to be this way when there are several hundred people in this grocery store.

* Multiple people with their grocery cart parked horizontally across bread aisle, along with their body adjacent to cart, taking up entirety of width of aisle, so I can't get through it. I run up to them, they have 0 notice of me right on them. Takes them a while to get out of the way. This happened in about 2 other aisles.

* Go to self-check out, I ring up my few items, the person that uses self checkout next to me, rolls their cart and parks it right behind me, so now I am pinned in my spot with their cart 4 inches behind me. Fed up, I turn around and roll their cart 4 ft to the left as to not pin me in.

* Finally make it out of shopping. Have to exit again out of 1 lane area that should be 2, but 18 wheelers parked in 1 lane that is supposed to be for cars exiting parking lot. Takes a few minutes to make it out trading turns with cars entering.

* Have to take Hwy 59 south, and then make it to 610 North. Everyone here from Houston will know the absolute death trap of trying to take 59 South from Downtown, then work their way onto I-610 North. When one takes US Hwy 59 South onto I-610 near the post oak area, they will see there are 2 lanes to exit 59 onto I-610 South, and 1 lane to exit onto I-610 North. The ratio of cars that take 610 North vs 610 South at this exit is 100:1, yet there is only 1 lane to get onto 610 N and 2 lanes to get into 610 South. What this creates is a 1 mile long line of cars trying to get onto 610 North. It takes around 20-30 minutes if you park at end of 1 mile line, then casually move your way up to finally exit onto 610 North. When you are driving 59 South, you don't expect a 1 mile long line to get onto 610-North, so you end up finding yourself having to cut in line because you didn't expect to need to move 5 lanes right 1 mile before the exit to get in line.

Whoever in the city thought to put 1 lane from 59 South exit onto I-610 North, and 2 lanes form 59 South exit onto I-610 South is a horrible planner. Not kidding when I say the amount of cars that go 610N is 100x amount of cars going 610S at the exit, yet it has 1/2 the lanes.

Luckily, I immediately exit 610N onto Westheimer exit, so I don't have to deal with further death trap of cars moving 1 mph on 610N from Hwy 59 4 miles up to I-10. The drive from US Hwy 59 to I-10 via 610 North, will take you on a good day 20 minutes to move 4 miles.

All in all, this took me around 1 hr 50 minutes to get a few groceries.

This is the Montrose HEB off Alabama. I'm sure other Houston residents will know the clusters here.

This is why I do all my errands around 10 PM in Houston. It is so nice to not deal with this. HEB closes at 11, I get all my gas, groceries, etc at 10 to avoid all this usually.

I miss Louisiana in these instances because I never had to deal with any of this there.

There’s like 3-4 other HEBs in that area you could’ve gone to.

Stop going to HEB. They are always crowded, overrated etc. Central Market is good but then you have to deal with old biddy bitches all around.

Stick to Kroger. Less crowded.

Which is why I pay $10 to have it delivered to my doorstep so I don’t have to deal with the madness that is HEB.

There are, but my friend wanted to do a mini crawfish boil. He assured me Montrose had them for sale live. I trusted him. I only come to find they won't sell them live until Super Bowl wknd. This overall felt like I went 0-12 from the field. Just loss after loss.

Except the red meat and beer selection at HEBs are usually better than the Krogers.

You seem to think in extremes.

The solution when living in Houston’s most population dense areas is not to dream of a shithole that people dream about leaving, but to look at other areas of a fantastic city like Houston or State like Texas and look at better options.

You knew the magnificence of HEB and it was worth putting up with what you did. If you leave Texas, you give up HEB. The rest of your life will be sad, having to settle for sadder places like Rouse’s.

Make better choices. Move to The Woodlands, Kingwood, or Sugarland..

Hey, that's the same guy that designed the merge after the Bridge in BR.

Download the Crawfish App on your phone.
Yes, it does work in Houston.
$4.99-5.99 per pound at most places

The sheer volume of attractive women in the suburb HEB’s is reason enough to make the drive

It sounds absurd because Houston interstates and Hwys area already 8 to sometimes 12 lanes, but to handle the volume of cars here, they really need to be 16 to 20 lanes across. 8 to 10 on each side. That would solve all of it, but would be a hell of a task to accomplish. Our forefathers in this city didn't plan the growth. BR was similar though. Although not quite as bad.
