A local high school football player and top national recruit has signed an NIL deal with a a New Orleans-based automotive dealership group.
Elijah Haven is the starting quarterback at The Dunham School in Baton Rouge and is the No. 1 player in the 2027 recruiting class according to 247Sports. A press release shared by The Jordy Culotta Show Sunday night revealed that Haven has signed a "first of its kind" NIL deal with the Matt Bowers Auto Group.

The news comes just over a month after Haven led his team to the state championship game in his sophomore year.
While it's worth noting that Matt Bowers himself is an Ole Miss alumnus, Bowers made it clear on social media that the deal is not directly correlated with a decision or commitment from Haven.

Haven't I already watched this movie before? About an NFL offensive lineman?

This is going south quicker than I could imagine. Some people have plenty money to throw around.

Imagine how much that Baby Gronk kid and his parents are going to try and demand for his "talents", and that's just going to be for high school.

That poor kid’s dad is going to lead him to suicide before it’s over. It’s written all over the child’s face. It’s fricking pathetic.

He didn't look so great against Catholic High of New Iberia in the dome.... Matt Bowers might be dumb with his money.

"Here let me give a bunch of money to a HS Sophomore that no one outside of recruiting circles knows about for no direct benefit whatsoever"

Why sign anything exclusive?

When we played Trafton Academy (now the Dunham School) in 1983, our single A school beat them by 30 without our seniors (who we sat by agreement).
Thats all I got.

Love it. Can't wait to watch these "student athletes" decide to flunk every class their JR and SR years so they can keep playing high school ball, stacking cash and building a highlight reel for colleges.

That’s why we have the age rule…
And besides who cares if one kid a year gets paid lol. Odds are you’re not going against him for a chip
