Excluding the hockey dynasties from 50/40 years ago because hockey had a funky set up that is completely different than current modern sports

But here are the 3 peats over the last 50 years

Bulls of the 90s
Yankees of the late 90s
Kobe and Shaq Lakers

Would be only the 4th 3 peat in modern sports history and the first time in over 20 years. A win would have to make this one of the greatest dynastic runs of all time right?

Yes. Even as a Broncos fan, it pains me to say, it would be one of the best. No modern NFL teams have done it.

Syracuse lacrosse won the NCAA championship in 1988, 1989, and 1990. The last one was vacated for a minor NCAA infraction.

I mean even the biggest haters can't take that away from them but you can't totally ignore the ignominious ways in which it was achieved

Right smack dab in the middle of a dynasty run that produced ten championships.

I was going to start a separate thread on it but...

Does this put Reid above Bill?

Reid will have had more success at a previous stop than Bill and fairly equal success (more?) at the next one.

Tough one. I think McDaniels deserves a lot of credit for their success as well.

More impressive than any other sport because it all comes down to 1 game, not a series

A 7 game series usually fleshes out the best team but a single game is a crapshoot where a couple bounces can screw you.

I mean it's unrivaled. The only question at that point would be if they could completely reload and win again a la 2010s Pats, but three in a row is still more impressive than the Pats.

Dolphins lost the SB to Dallas in '71. Then went on to win the next two vs the Redskins and Vikings. Closest the NFL has had to a three-peat*.

*And then lose in the playoffs to Stabler and the Raiders in the "Sea of Hands" game. If they win that game, they smoke Pittsburgh in the AFCCG and then the Vikings in the SB. 10-yr old me couldn't believe Stabler could do that to me.

Not to mention football has so much more in place to keep this from happening

I do agree this would be more impressive than any one thing NE did but that 2nd act keeps it on top for now

Unless KC somehow wins 4 in a row

i think this is the most impressive in that the baseball playoffs do the worst job of deciding the best team. There is just so much luck involved. It is why the MLB playoffs are awesomely stressful.

bad bounces or a series where every hard-hit ball seems to have a magnet to an outfielder.

Let's see. Third straight Super Bowl? That'd effect legacy about 3.5%.
