Who is the best in-ring performer in WWE history?

In my opinion it is Shawn Michaels but I would love to hear from those of you who think it isn't Shawn Michaels, or someone who deserves to be mentioned alongside Shawn Michaels

Kurt Angle. Eddie Guerrero was really good along with "he who we should not speak of".

Michaels seems to be as close to consensus #1.
Bret Hart is probably the only other guy people would argue.

Angle and Guerrero are both good ones. Benoit was a GOAT, but a total nutjob. I would add AJ Styles to this list.

Shawn Michaels is what every professional wrestler will say.

Shawn Michaels is as overrated as Bret Hart.
Both as boring as watching paint dry.

Kurt Angle would tell you it is/was Benoit. I recently saw part of an interview with Angle where he was asked this question. He said that following Benoit's crazy exit from this world the order from the top of the company was to act like Chris Benoit never even existed. They were told not to talk about him and not to mention him in any way. Angle said that he felt that was a difficult ask of him because most of his best matches were with Benoit, and to not talk about them left a hole in his own career history. He said Chris was the best in ring guy and was one of the only guys he felt could match him. He finally got to the point where he said to hell with it and started talking about those matches and Benoit, saying that we should be able to differentiate between what Benoit did in the ring and how he left this world.

I wasn't the biggest Bret Hart fan, but i don't think his matches were boring

See, that's almost how I've come to feel about Flair. Once you have seen one Ric Flair match you have seen them all. He had his spots that he would hit no matter what, and those spots never changed. He could put on a show and cut a hell of a promo, but he would rarely surprise anyone.

It seems obvious, and HBK has been my favorite since he kicked Marty Jannetty through the window in the barbershop, but the Rock is the best all time.

Shawn Michaels or The Rock

For comedy, Santino Marella. For all around skills, hard to beat The Rock
