We know about all the splashes we made in the portal defensively. However, which young players are you most confident will take the next step or make instant impacts as true freshmen? For me 4 guys come to mind : Dom McKinley, Pj woodland, DJ Pickett and Deshawn spears. Charles Ross is another instant impact dark house love his athleticism at lb

We’re going to be scary good next year and no one’s expecting it. College Football is sleeping on LSU.

Look for Davhon Keys to break out

We need Pickett to be a star right away. If he is a failure like so many highly touted 5 star players in the recent past that we have counted on, then LSU will be hurting next year again on defense. I think he has to be an immediate starter against Clemson, and play well to set the stage for our entire defense next year.

mckinley, keys and Pickett. I think keys is going to have a breakout year especially with the depth and maturity of the DL. If pickett is the real deal will get us back on the road to DBU. I think this defense has the opportunity to be elite which is something we haven't had in 5 years.

Pickett's success is so important to restoring DBU. If he pops right away I'm confident elite db's will wanna come to LSU again. Thankfully i think the kid will start immediately and be a baller. I trust a motivated Raymond to coach this kid up he has special tools. The kid will def get tested at this level immediately those Clemson wideouts are very talented

This is definitely the most complete roster Brian Kelly has ever had at LSU. Roster's like what he'll have in 2025 is the exact reason he left Notre Dame to come to LSU. On paper, this is the type of roster that can make a legit natty run. Cannot wait for spring to get here.

DJ Pickett. If he can add any weight this offseason he’s gonna be impossible to keep off the field.

I do not want to place too high an expectation on the young man but he looks like he could be a CB with the talent level of Patrick Peterson or Derek Stingley but only 3 inches taller and looks to be as fast or faster than either. Which is mind mind-blowing.

Peterson ran 100 meters in 10.92 seconds while in college. He also ran the 200 meters in 22.24 seconds

Stingley ran the 100-meter dash in 10.89 seconds in high school, where he also ran the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.92 seconds

Pickett ran the 100-meter dash in 10.62 seconds in high school. He also ran the 200 meters in 21.66 seconds.

What’s even more freakish with Pickett is not only is he that fast at that height but he is extremely fluid and loose in coverage. The kid is def a Peterson/Stingley caliber athlete.I've always compared to a faster sauce Gardner

10.36 in the 100. 4.43 40 time. That's moving, especially for a 205-pound HS kid.

DT position group as a whole: Guillory back from injury, McKinley and Breaux. If this group contributes like we hope, our DEF is really going to be good. DE, LB and DB return established players, upcoming players, and impact portal types.

I can tell you that, directly from our highest profile player's mouth, during bowl prep DJ Pickett looked like a big skinnier Mike Evans who can run with anyone and he showed up to dominate. They already know what they got with Pickett.
